Protests lacking in marchers, incidents (Boston Globe reports on red roots of cANSWER)

BOSTON -- An antiwar march to the FleetCenter planned as the first major protest of convention week fell far short of the thousands expected, but the city still crackled with energy yesterday as protesters, delegates, and onlookers mingled on the eve of the Democratic National Convention.

(snip)

What was expected to be the biggest protest of the day -- an antiwar march from Boston Common to the FleetCenter -- drew only 1,200 to 1,500 people, according to police estimates, far fewer than the 5,000 police expected and the "thousands" predicted by organizers. About the same number rallied in support of Israel in the North End. Other smaller groups included antiabortion protesters at Faneuil Hall and in the South End, and families of Sept. 11 victims who lugged a 1,400-pound granite memorial from the University of Massachusetts at Boston to Copley Square to remember victims of violence around the world.

(snip)

Yesterday's antiwar rally and march had drawn attention not just for its potential size, but also for winning a key legal fight: after suing the city, its organizers were granted the right to march along Causeway Street in front of the FleetCenter, which had initially been declared off-limits to protest groups. The event, organized by the Boston chapter of International ANSWER: Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, began with hundreds of people gathered on Boston Common, with informational tables, banners, costumes, and even origami cranes with bloodied beaks -- representing a spectrum of views from mainstream liberal to the far left wing.

(snip)

A variety of socialist groups had tables, and many demonstrators argued that Kerry is no better than President Bush.

(snip)

"Kerry and Gore are just as much part of the corporate agenda as Bush and [Vice President Dick] Cheney," said John Spritzler, a Harvard biostatistician handing out leaflets encouraging people not to vote in November.

Frank Neisser, a local ANSWER organizer and computer programmer, said he believes both parties want to institute the draft. Asked if ANSWER supports the Iraqi insurgency, Neisser said yes, adding, "We support the right of oppressed and occupied people to fight and defend their homeland."

(snip)

But the march was uneventful, moving smoothly back to a closing rally on the Common. Some said the relatively low turnout reflected the controversial status of ANSWER within the antiwar movement. Among its founders are members of the Workers World Party, a group that has defended North Korea and Slobodan Milosevic.

United for Peace and Justice, a more mainstream antiwar coalition, stayed away from yesterday's march, opting instead to attend the Boston Social Forum at UMass-Boston. Frank Little, a member of the anti-authoritarian Bl(a)ck Tea Society, said two days ago that most of the group members would not attend. A variety of antiwar groups that skipped the march plan a protest for Thursday near the FleetCenter.

This is an excerpt from a very long Boston Globe article; I only posted the parts about our favorite communist group, International ANSWER.

I am pleased to see that almost three years of hard work, by Freepers and others, educating the media about cANSWER's red roots, is finally and consistently bearing fruit.

Once we have finished off ANSWER we can focus all our energies on United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ, - another commie led group) and Code Pink(o).

You might want to e-mail, Steve Kirchbaum, Frank Neisser, and Steve(?) Gillis at IACBoston.org and congradulate them for their outstanding proformance.

I was on my way into work, Boston, and I saw a few of the unwashed, looked like anachists, expected to see a lot more.

I appreciate your desire to finish of A.N.S.W.E.R., but it'll never happen. The money behind that organization and a number of others seems to be from a bottomless pit.

Oh they may change their name, but in twenty years these leaches will have morphed into another group, just like the anti-war loons of the 60s and 70s morphed into them.

This is socialisms last stand and they aren't going anywhere.

For all their carping about the democrats not being better than republicans, both groups use the exact same terms to refer to Iraq and talk about a number of issues. Some democrats actually appear at A.N.S.W.E.R. rallies right along with members of known terrorist organizations.

NOW, La Raza, MALDEF, Gay Rights groups, Eco Nazis, the NAACP and other staunch democrat edifices are mainstays of the A.N.S.W.E.R. rallies.

The media may spin the distancing of the democrats from these cretans during the convention, but these groups and the DNC are two peas in the same pod. The media damn well knows it too.

I would like to also add, that the radical anti-religion croud is mired heavily in this effort.

Realizing how hard it is to get people out for any cause, I am convinced there is much more to these large protests by A.N.S.W.E.R. than meets the eye. Someone is paying for these numbers to show up.

Follow the money trail!

The commies sure stick together, but, as you say, a lot of the ignorant Americans in the "antiwar" movement are starting to figure out that they are herded by anti-American communists, and are stepping back from the commies. By getting out the info that these organizations were created and exist to protect and advance communism under any cover they can appropriate, we may be able to limit the damage they cause. Maybe some will fold.

Some said the relatively low turnout reflected the controversial status of ANSWER within the antiwar movement. Among its founders are members of the Workers World Party, a group that has defended North Korea and Slobodan Milosevic.

What a bunch of garbage from the Serbophobic Boston Globe, which is owned by the even more Serbophobic New World Order Times.

In 1999 in my local area, we had Christian-themed protests every week against clinton's bombing of Serbia, with hundreds of well-turned-out mainly Serbian Christians, but with other Orthodox and non-Orthodox Christians as well.

The ANSWER crowd (which called itself something different back then) had their own protest in another location, and then marched to join ours. Their protesters combined several different causes, not only Yugoslavia, but also "Palestine", Iraq, Mumia al Jamal (sp?), etc., etc. Their protesters were few in number, and very scruffly and pathetic-looking.

After the war, when Kosovo was occupied and the KLA terrorists were slaughtering Serbs and destroying churches, we continued to protest for several weeks. But the ANSWER crowd no longer joined us, and basically deserted the Serbian cause!!!!

Later, after Sept. 11, ANSWER mounted HUGE demonstrations, with HUNDREDS of scruffly, unwashed specimens!!!! This all goes to show that they never supported the Serbs at all, but just used the Yugoslav issue to make anti-American propaganda!!!!

As for the ultra-liberal Globe, they once again make a sneaky dig at the Serbs by equating them with "Slobodan Milosevic", whom ANSWER is supposed to "support". The reality is quite different!!!

Asked if ANSWER supports the Iraqi insurgency, Neisser said yes, adding, "We support the right of oppressed and occupied people to fight and defend their homeland."

The reporter should have followed up this answer by clarifying it -- pointing out that this really means that ANSWER supports the very people in Iraq who are killing, kidnapping and beheading Americans and other innocent civilians. ANSWER supports the TERRORISTS! Thanks for posting this article.
