Have you heard this?

N Korea plotted to get Jenkins' wife back if reunited in Beijing

Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 08:16 JST
TOKYO — Alleged U.S. Army deserter Charles Jenkins has told Japanese officials that North Korea had planned to have him take his wife, a repatriated Japanese abductee, back to Pyongyang had their reunion taken place in Beijing, Japanese government sources said Tuesday.

Jenkins, 64, was quoted as saying the North Korean government promised that if he succeeded in bringing his wife Hitomi Soga back to Pyongyang, the family would be given a luxury, chauffeur-driven car, increased food rations and other benefits. (Kyodo News)

Never mind, I reread your post and saw you had seen the story I put up in #21.

Can anyone imagine this chap teaching ENGLISH to North Koreans at Amnokgang Teacher's College in Pyongyang????

Reminds of a guy I knew on my first ship. He was from deep woods Alabama with a drawl so thick he was almost incomphrensible in addition to his horrible grammar. His last duty station had been the Midway in Yokosuka and he was always bragging about how he been an English teacher on the side. We used to roll on the floor laughing at the image of Japanese walking around speaking like him.

Yeah, I was wondering why they weren't wearing their red pins, like all NK's are required to do...

Thanks. I'll wait for the military trial and all of the details, thank you. Of course, the preponderence is that he did it willingly, no argument there. Since you havent the power to officially convict as guilty without reasonable doubt, or go on to execute, you are actually quite powerless--as am I over the situation. Thanks for your input, though.

That is not quite exact.

And of course you have been intimately familiar with this case for years, so I defer to your 'judgement'.

The facts are, Soga does NOT want to go the United States. She is Japanese (was kidnapped mind you--sorry for those details) and wants to stay in her own country. She wants the two daughters who were "spawned" to stay there too. And no doubt they want to. Further, the husband does not want to go back to the US. So I don't know where you get your information that the whole bunch want to come to the USA and leech based on our open borders....

This fellow could easily fit into the Berger national security offices if Kerry gets elected.
