Suspected Chinese hackers have launched an offensive against the website of Taiwan's Military News Agency ahead of practice landings by fighter jets on the island, the defense ministry said

Does such an attack have any effect on Taiwanese military operations, or is this the equivalent of FReeping an internet poll?

Disclaimer to prior post: I'm not equating FReeping polls to hacking a military website!

Just wondering if such an action is simply a meaningless gesture, or if it could have more sinister effects.
