Taiwan pushes for new submarines

Well all European nations have stopped arms sales to Taiwan for a few yrs & are trying to break into the Chinese market.The French,Swedes & Germans have all said no to supplying anything to the Taiwanese.That;s the reason why America can't sell them the 8 D/E subs as they are dependent on Europe for the design blueprints.

I know that all Europeans said no to supplying d/e subs to taiwan. I supposed the french selling subs to them, because they deliverd in the Kang Ding-class (La Fayette) Frigate in the early 90ies without bothering about the more than angry Beijing.

America is in a quite uncomfortable situtation that they can't supply in this important market of modern weapons.

BTW - More interesting than the discussion about devlievering Ohio subs to Taiwan is the fact, that the island was working on PU 239.

I do not believe, that this program was stopped. It is a question of survial for Taiwan. Regardless of their size, they have extremly skilled engenieers that will be able to buildt nukes within 2 weeks as long as plutonium or uranium is available. Last but not least they have the money to buy everything they want.

It would be just perfekt for America and all other western nations if they would be able to defend themselves without any help from outside. I am sure that our gouvernments are not in anger about Taiwan controlling nukes (produced in Taiwan), because there is no danger that they use them for anything else than for defense.
