Nah. Impalings are more picturesque - hence greater staying power in public memory. Besides, impaling has a venerable local tradition there, since at least Assyrian times (9th century BC), if not earlier. In particularly atrocious cases they even used to flay the impaled perp alive. This, IMHO, would be appropriate answer to hostage beheadings.
