Snotty Couric, like the dems, is suffering a drop in ratings. She's changing her tune because she's losing market share.
I am surprised by the liberal media response to Kerry and his speech. I was thinking there would be nothing but all that glitters is gold. Not to be.
Is the media in the tank for PIAPS?

MSNBC is leaving out the salute as well. I think Kerry has a problem with this "I will tell the truth" business. Was it true that our soldiers were committing atrocities in Nam.? Is it true that Bush lied to and misled the country. They spent so much time and noise on that lie that they have, dangerously I think, come to believe it.

It was apparently the best speech he's ever made. However, the bar was very low as he is known to drive people stark-raving bored.
Problem is, his best just isn't good enough. Especially for the snarling, rabid Leftists who dream of dragging Bush in chains behind their pickups.

Katie is just upset that it wasn't liberal ENOUGH!

The fix is in. The Liberal media has been told that Kerry will lose. The media wants to be on the winning side (or at least, not be on the losing side). And the media would like to deflect the growing criticism that they support the Left no matter what. And so Kerry will find fewer and fewer friends in the media as we get closer to November.
But the media will be given permission to return to their normal way of doing business in 2008.

5% points also compared to Clinton's huge jump is interesting, but partly explained by the breaking of the alphabet NEWs monopoly. There was no freerepublic then, and FOX News was not even a dream. Now, the nonsense gets debunked by real journalism. That's not fair for Democrats, but it's good for the country.

Tim Russert is being much too generous. John F*ckin' will get half that in terms of a bounce and it will be short-lived. I don't see him having won over swing voters when he hasn't even nailed down his own base. You're supposed to take care of the latter BEFORE the convention. And the country after the speech, still has no idea what Kerry believes in, other than in embracing the contradictory themes of hating Bush and expressing hope in America. Its fair to say I think, he did not close the sale with the American people and has his work cut out for him.

No one's gushing. Kerry needed gushing. I know all the pundits are tired after an all-nighter, but there's still no "wow!" comments.
It's a small victory for Kerry, basically relief that he didn't make any embarrassing gaffes. He needed more.

All this talk of how the bump is going to be small is just an effort to lower expectations. That way, if the bump is small, they can discount it by saying, "just as expected," but if the bump is typical, they can gush about how Kerry is taking the nation by storm.
Expect the opposite for the Republican convention. Anything less than a twelve-point bump for Bush will be taken as evidence that his reelection is in free-fall.

NYTimes not real favorable.
Washington Post, same.
Boston Globe, didn't care for it either.
Some major league liberal media didn't drink the kool-aide (or they are marching to the beat of a different drum{mer} named Clinton.)

I gave Kerry a two-bagger for the speech, but I give you 4 stars (out of 4) for your effort today. Excellent write-up and insights!
The speech was a meandering mush of old liberal applause lines with occasional cleverness.

Corizine on FoxNews trying to explain that Kerry has 'plans.'
lol.
He admits that Kerry needs to work on developing some of the details.
[Hey, Corizine, he has not details; it is smoke and mirrors; he's hoodwinking everyone; he's an empty-suit full of rhetoric.]

Thanks for the thread! Lots of detail, and I really appreciate not having to sit through this myself :)

Did any of you notice as I did, that the crowd last night was all but completely silent when Kerry claimed he would build America's military force by 40,000 full time regular soldiers, and that he would strengthen special forces?
They were also less than enthusiastic when Kerry talked tough talk about dealing with Iraq.
Now my personal thoughts. For the last 6 months or longer, the Dems have been on one long, unending, insufferable tirade about how President Bush has lied to America and the world about WMDs in Iraq, and subsequently mislead us in to war. In this same tirade, the Dems have belittled, degraded, and attempted to demoralize our troops with their hatred for Bush and our military. According to the Dems, everything is all doom and gloom. America is going to hell in a hand basket, and we are loosing the war on terrorism.
Suddenly, and inexplicably, everything is rosy red and wonderful. The world is one, and who is going to forget "Hope (or help, choose your poisonous lie) is on the way". For the last 4 days, Democrats have said and done the exact polar opposite to what they have been preaching to us for the last 6 months or longer. Which is true? We can not be doing the worst we have in ages, and be in good shape but can be doing better at the same time. I am sorry, but all I got from the Kerry speech is taxes are going to be raised(as that is the only way he will be able to pay for the "grand" ideas he did get specific about, and his specificity was precious little then), he will consult the UN and gain their permission before doing any kind of action on every major issue facing our country (that is what he means by bringing our allies along side of us). I find it interesting that very little mention was made of Kerry's voting record in the Senate.
Time will tell, ladies and gentlemen, which John Kerry we can expect to see in the coming weeks.

Couric is too dishonest to ask him the tough questions, specifically Kerry's "Pearl Harbor Policy" regarding terrorism.
But we can be sure Kerry would "retaliate" against anyone who destroys our cities with WMDs. Gee - glad we got that out of the way....

Thanks to your excellent synopsis of this show, I don't have to watch it.
Can you or anyone here explain to me how Zogby can get out his poll about 5 min. after Kerry's speech?

I think Perky Katie has seen the writing on the wall after last night. It's over. W has won. She is in pre-election depression mode.
