WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- President George W. Bush may be tapping into solid human psychology when he invokes the September 11 attacks while campaigning for the next election, U.S. researchers said on Thursday.

Talking about death can raise people's need for psychological security, the researchers report in studies to be published in the December issue of the journal Psychological Science and the September issue of the Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin.

"There are people all over who are claiming every time Bush is in trouble he generates fear by declaring an imminent threat," said Sheldon Solomon of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, who worked on the study.

Now you know why the 'Rats cry whenever 9/11 is invoked in the campaign.

Don't listen to them, President Bush.

FOUR MORE YEARS

This is an important message to GOP political strategists.

Are you getting the message?

I have a real fear alright. I don't want to imagine John Kerry sitting in the White House talking on the phone with France asking them if it is okay to defend ourselves against terrorists.

GEORGE BUSH FOUR MORE YEARS!!!!!!

...or if we should join the EU... or if Hillary (TM) should be appointed Chief Justice... or we should sign on to Kyoto... or the ICJ...

Maybe you've had the same experience.

If I reflect on how I have most effectively motivated a swing voter or a Liberal, it is to remind them that the enemy is plotting to kill them and their family RIGHT NOW.

Amazing what that wake-up call does to their sensibilities. To them, George W. Bush becomes real smart all of a sudden.

I wrote this back in March.

We Remember

We saw the look upon his face,
Through whispers he was told.
We knew he felt just what we felt,
We wouldn’t sit here cold.
We knew this time that we would act,
And not just turn our head.
This time we’d go and we’d go big,
We wouldn’t bomb some shed.
He called them faceless cowards,
He vowed we'll hunt them down.
We watched as he spoke to us all,
Sincerely, not some clown.
His eyes assured us he’d not rest,
Until they paid the price.
Yes we’d turn over every stone,
Until they were on ice.
He warned the battle would be long,
That many would forget.
That some would say, let’s just move on,
Not him, his mind was set.
We backed him then, we back him now,
The fight must still go on.
We can’t back down, we can’t let up,
Until the threat is gone.
God Bless our troops as on they fight,
Each day for them we pray.
We thank them all, for all they do,
“They are the best”, we say.
We will support our President,
He’s proven he will stand.
We’ll vote for Bush this coming fall,
We will protect this land.

This article says alot about CNN. It apparently thinks Bush has done a good job with the war on terror, and CNN is afraid that the public agrees. CNN's response to to criticize, a priori, any use of the war on terror in Bush's campaign, labelling it as 'fear mongering'. These guys are beyond biased, but they're not stupid.

And besides that, what needs to be said is that no domestic issue is important and will be successful if we have attacks in this country.

They can talk about all the social programs and economic issues they please, but what the Dems fail to realize, is that if we begin to suffer attacks in this country, social issues and the economy will be the least of our worries.

Thanks for the update.

Being linked to DU isn't contagious, is it?

I mean, I'm no metrosexual, if you get my drift, but what about just touching the keyboard...?

Funny, Kerry's campaign has run on fears since last October.

I, too, saw the post over in DUland.

The Democrats have a BIG problem this year, and they know it.

They understand the fears of the American people.

Why do you think there was so much talk of a "Strong America" at the DNC in Boston?

Why do you think that Kerry started his speech with "reporting for duty list" last night?

It is because they need desperately for the American people to think of them as being able and willing to defend the United States from a future terrorist attack.

The problem the Democrats have, of course, is that one person running for President has already shown huis committment to taking the war to our enemies abroad -- despite objections from the French, the Germans, the Canadians, and the Spanish electorate.

The other person running for President wants to ensure that we have the "permission" of the morally bankrupt in Eupore and to our north before he does anything to try to protect us.

Just so you know ----

I post regularly ovef at DU (under a different screen-name, of course).

I do so for a couple of reasons.

First, my participation over there raises the average IQ level of the posters over there.

Second, it is soooo easy and soooo much fun to get them to say the most outrageous things. There are some truly looney people who are not shocked any more over there.

Third, I like causing some havoc on a website (like theirs) that is obviously run by and moderated by kids.

The most disgusting thing, is they aren't even FOR kerry... its just anyone but Bush

(that in itself is so scary, and proves how stupid they are)

I am not a war mongering nazi, I am a mother, business owner, have 4 cats 3 dogs and 3 guinea pigs and I drive a Jeer Cherokee (the Horrors) They are sick, twisted ... (can we call them) people? who really need to grow up, stop drinking the coolaid, and try getting a real life

(ohhh that should throw them into a tizzy)

They wish we would wake up and smell the coffee that Bush is the reason, and the man behind 9/11

BWAHHAHAHAHAHAHA...

Well, of course ---

They aren't FOR Kerry at all.

Tne one -- and only -- thing that unites all of the rabid Democrats this year is hatred of George Bush.

And why do they hate him?

Because he has shown that he is not afraid.

By the way, don't you just love it when you see some DUmbass saying things like "this is their focus, scare the sh*t out of us????"

They should know just how effective campaigns built on "scaring the sh*t out of us" are. One look at the effectiveness of THEIR campaigns on Social Security, which are, of course, based on scaring the sh*t out of seniors, should clue anyone in on how fearful they are about the GOP raising the issue of the war on terror.

Well, since this may be a platform from which to persuade, here goes:

Radical Islam has declared war on America. We didn't ask for it. It didn't even happen on Bush's watch.

A formal declaration of war was made against America by Osama in 1996, and the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 was proof enough.

Too bad few of us heard at the time that we were at war - peace and prosperity was getting a lot of press under Clinton, you see. So was sexual harassment. All the while the 9/11 terrorists were plotting to steal lives.

President Bush, in exactly the manner which this article predicts, was elevated to genius status by nearly everyone, including biased Liberal media, in the aftermath of 9/11.

Fearing for your lives makes you turn to a strong, decisive leader, while those nuanced and sophisticated, like metrosexual males, go out of style fast.

When the horrifying images of 9/11 faded, embargoed essentially by the media and the Jersey Cows, the Liberal left broke ranks with America under Bush, even in wartime, because the danger was far removed from domestic concerns like cheaper gas and better-paying jobs.

We remain there today.

Where do we go from here?

First, the war against radical Islam is not over, not by a desert mile. The culture of death, as it is self-proclaimed by its leaders, mocks our love of life and freedom, our economic prosperity, even our faith. The war in some form will last a generation or more.

Iran, where modern America first encountered radical Islam under the passive and ineffectual Jimmy Carter 25 years ago, has metastasized and grown much, much stronger. Their nuclear threat will be revealed within the next year or two - certainly under the next administration.

And regardless of whether you believe government should steal our money and redistribute it, pay for prescription drugs or wipe your fanny, the looming confrontation of Iran and nuclear weapons is sobering enough.

Judge President Bush the rightful victor in November, if you love yourself, your children, your country and your freedom.
