Coleus, I'm glad you used the Vivat Jesus salutation.
When I first joined Spring of 2003 I asked, why Vivat Jesus and not Vivat Jesu -- why mix Latin and English?
No one knew.
I asked a Priest friend who Celebrates the Tridentine at the Indult in Baton Rouge and is the KofC Chaplin for the diocese. He said that, technically, Vivat Jesus is a mistake and that Vivat Jesu is correct.
I don't know Latin, hek my engris ain't 2 good, but this seems like an obvious mistake. Any Freepers fluent in Latin are invited to lend a hand. What do y'all think?

It has been a long time since I studied Latin but my online research finds that Jesus is the nominative form while Jesu is the vocative form.
In general we would speak to Jesu but we would speak about Jesus.
