Senators McConnel and Lieberman on with Wolfie, saying this is an acknowledgement of a known status... that DC is a target. They agreed that AQ has a habit of going after a target until they get it, and note that the WH or Capitol building were targets on 9/11.

Surprisingly, Lieberman volunteered that we need to pull together even during the political season to defeat AQ and "win the war against the terrorists in Iraq." I respected Lieberman before he ran with Gore and sold out so many of his beliefs to Gore's politics. He has been trying to regain his principled footing for 4 years now.

Would it not make sense to just forgo these warnings and allow the states to take the lead.

I just know many pay attention to their surroundings but if they knew there a car bomb(s) somewhere in NY or DC what would those residents do? Very complicated question, I suppose.

Will tune in to the press conference at 2:00pm. Right now Lieberman and McConnell are tossing out hypotheses. Both of them are strongly denying this could be a political ploy by Bush administration. Nuts that they should even have to address that, but then Terry McAwful and the Johns are bound to spin it that way.

I understand the reason for these alerts...I just don't see the point of them when all we're ever told is "go about your regular routine like normal."

Gee...we could do that without all the hoopla, couldn't we?

Personally, I'd like to see these alerts coupled with blanket notices that every lawful American citizen should be able to pack heat. Then at least we'd have some influence in our fate and wouldn't simply be helpless sheeple waiting for the other shoe to fall.
