After President Bush announced that his administration will create a national intelligence director position to oversee the CIA and other intelligence-gathering agencies, as part of the recommendations made by the 9/11 commission, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry urged the president to call a special session of Congress to implement the recommendations.

John Kerry urged the president to call a special session of Congress

Any session this arrogant, braindead bozo even bothers showing UP for is, de facto, a "special" one. :)

Maybe they're going for a record on the number of sessions missed in a year.

When Kerry gave his big salute to say he was reporting for duty someone should have asked when he planned to REPORT FOR DUTY IN THE SENATE.

I wish they would call congress back into session to see if the two john's show up for duty.

Of course they will. It is a ploy to use the Senate floor for campaigning on the cheap until the Republican Convention. He know the media will play along and make it a 'big story' to help him out.

And while they are there, they would probably have another go, or three, at extending the Assault Weapons Ban. Even the attemp would energize their base, and success would, for want of a better word, de-energize, Bush's base, big time. Especially if Bush actually signed the bill, and it would likely not be a standalone bill, but rather attached to the legislation creating this new "Intelligence Czar", and the rest. In fact that might be the only chance Ketchup (or is that Catsup?) man has to actually get elected.

Considering John Kerry's record of being AWOL from his Senate duties (including the Senate Intelliegnce Committee), it is laughable to see him posturing indignantly about Bush not showing "urgency" in addressing American security.

Not one reporter even bothered to comment that Congress is, indeed, holding hearings during this recess period.

Maybe no one from the press pool spoke up because no one wanted to be stalked by one of TerAyza's crazed supporters from the DNC.

Congress should return early from its summer recess so it can create "what strengthens America as rapidly as possible. It should happen now," Kerry said.

Ummm .. isn't his running mate on the Sen. Intell Committee

I don't see him running back to congress for any hearings

Did anyone notice the Algore sounding quote today, something like "I called for this a year ago"? The question for Kerry then becomes "If your such a great leader, why didn't you push this in the Senate?".
