New Organization, "Progressive Democrats of America"

"Progressive" is 'rat code squeak for "I'm too gutless and inherently dishonest to call myself a liberal in public. Please don't snap that wet towel at my legs." :)

Referring to the event in Roxbury and Tuesday's "Building the Peace Movement" Forum at the Boston Paulist Center, which was attended by a standing room only crowd of over 400 and was featured in a New York Times article.

Wonder how often the Paulist Center offers programs that have to do with the Catholic faith?

I remember the first time I heard the term "progressive" used to describe a political position. It was around 1973, when Jane Fonda was trying to explain away her lack of outrage at the "killing fields" of Communist Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge took power.

Her comment was something to the effect that she didn't believe in criticizing "progressive" governments for their policies.

The term "progressive" has for years been a far-left code word for proto-communist. It doesn't mean the same things as "liberal".

And today, the new "progressives" consist of the most left-leaning, pro-communist cadres of the hard left movements.

Having Tom Hayden address them was apropo: Boston was this generation's version of the Chigago '68 convention, except order was enforced with a "free speech" cage rather than nightsticks.

After the failed '68 election, the hard left tossed aside the ballot box and their slavish devotion to the Democrats, and started throwing bombs and killing cops. They considered the Democrats as much the enemy as the Republicans. I expect to see a repeat performance.

New my foot. Progressive party was a key phrase used by spin offs and the communist party since the 40's.

Wouldn't "Progressive Democrats" be a double negative?

Great, a new hobby for the neocommunists. This must mean that last year's group, ANSWER, did so poorly as to look foolish, so the membership list was just tranfered to this new group. I GUARANTEE you'll see many of the usual suspects.

The communists and neocommunists just LOVE the word "progressive." It is a word from an synthetic and failed ideology but one that the left wing love to trot(sky) out whenever they can. The beauty is, that once the blush of the new organization wears off, they always begin to fight about one anothers true level of "progressiveness." And the, they start using terrible curses as one tactic after another fails and the new organization begins to look as foolish as the last. IIRC, the most terrible curse is for one left-winger to call another a "reactionary."

This organization will, of course, be in NYC and may, in fact, have been formed solely to be destroyed or disgraced in NYC without tainting the group/folks who sent it, mostly the DNC and thug unions.
