The American Civil Liberties Union filed suit on Monday to block what it described as a misleading ballot measure that could lead to a parental-notice requirement for teen abortions.
The measure was put on the November ballot by the state Legislature after the Florida Supreme Court struck down another parental notification law as unconstitutional. The amendment, if approved, would allow the Legislature, for the third time, to pass such a law.
The suit, filed by the ACLU and several chapters of Planned Parenthood, asks that the circuit court in Tallahassee issue an injunction keeping the measure off the Nov. 2 general election ballot. No court hearing has been set.
''The public is being intentionally misled by the Legislature,'' said Randall Marshall, the ACLU's legal director. ``The proposal fails to inform voters that its passage will reverse the Florida Constitution and previous rulings of the Florida Supreme Court.
PROPOSAL'S LANGUAGE
The proposal states that it would not limit or deny the privacy rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution.

At this point, I'm surprised we haven't gone the Chinese route with mandatory abortions. So, I guess it's no surprise that teens should have the "right" to kill their babies without parental notice...
Why does the public need to be informed of that? Besides, I think the public is well aware of the antics of the Kangeroo court...
Why should parents be informed that their children are having surgical procedures done. /sarcasm
So, children can't buy cigarettes or watch an "R" rated movie but they can commit murder without telling anybody?
How did we get here?...
We need to use the tools of the left. We must ask "How anyone could be against common sense abortion control." ie: 48 hour waiting period, parental notification, registration, etc. After all, 'It's for the children."
an abortion doesn't only make a woman or girl unpregnant, it makes them the mother of a dead baby.
In NewYork, kids under 18 require parental consent to get a tattoo!
The tattoo artists I know are very strident in enforcing this law.
Well put...
FL parents should be outraged. However, perhaps the following will bring some solace. Even though your baby can have a life snuffed out from her womb, she will not be allowed to have a microscopic-sized tattoo placed anywhere on her person. Whew. Thank heaven for government intervention.

So the ACLU does NOT want the AMERICAN CIVILIANS to have THE LIBERTY to have a voice in their GOVERNMENT?
Woodrow Wilson and FDR.
And quite possibly sterile.
