Swiftboat Ad Just Played on Hannity
Posted on 08/04/2004 12:45:10 PM PDT by Carling
The Swift Boat ad was just played on Hannity. Apparently he is going to play the TV spot tonite. It was pretty powerful. I don't see how Kerry is going to get out of this since Kerry himself made his service his primary selling point.

I wonder how long the media will ignore this and/or start discrediting all of these vets.
Either way, it won't make Kerry look good to the military vote.

As Col. Troutman said " It's over Johnny" That was the most devastating thing I've heard yet.

If Kerry is so good for the country, why wouldn't those who served WITH HIM (to put it in Edwardsspeak) be embracing his candidacy.
Kerry made this an issue, and trying to discredit these vets once this book is released won't help out Kerry either.
The fact that those who served with him are doing this is the story regardless of media spin. That is the bottom-line on this. Fighting them will only amplify their effect. In effect, Kerry will be fighting those who he says support him.
This is going to get ugly over the next few weeks.

Powerful ad...........
All the negative Bush bashing pales compared to this!
Kerry will cry when he hears it.
I predict he will have a Dean moment and self destruct!

Basically they had Edwards saying "if you want to know about Kerry, spend 3 minutes with those who served with him" at the Dem Convention.
They then had a few guys say "I served with Kerry" and proceed to rip him apart. One guy said (semi-quote) "I know Kerry's first Purple Heart is a fake because I treated the wound initially". This doc said it was a self-inflicted wound, and Kerry still somehow got his medal.
It was an ugly ad. I wonder how Kerry can still run on his Viet Nam record.

IMHO, the issue of what Kerry did in Vietnam is a loser... political quicksand. In the final analysis, Kerry still went. Bush, for whatever reason (and he served honorably) did not.
What Kerry did upon his return from the war is a lot better political ground for the GOP.

What is the current estimate of Americans serving in our armed forces? 2 million worldwide? Does someone know this answer...Could be the critical voter base in this election...
