I love the way President Bush showed his appreciation for Rummy when he signed the bill today. As Tommy Franks talks about in his wonderful book, "American Soldier," loyalty needs to flow down the chain of command, as well as up. I think President Bush shows that beautifully, even as he holds people accountable.
Tommy Franks said the other day that he was hurt that the RATs hadnt invited him to their convention. He said he hadn't been formally invited to the republican convention yet. One assumes, though, that GW has told him he'd better show up and that he'll get the gold star treatment.
