Did anyone else see this? This was the first time I have heard him claim this. Is he just saying this because he knows Kerry will never file a SF180 to release his records? I suspect John Kerry actually put himself in for the Silver Star, but we have no way of knowing, do we?
Here you go:

Glad to help; I should have put it up there when I posted it.
Under John McCain, no doubt.
The one question that I would like to have been asked is this: "Mr. Rassman, just how much money are you being paid by the Kerry campaign and what promises have been made concerning your future?"
We are aware that Jim Rassman is on the Kerry payroll, it's just not clear to as to how deeply his "loyalty" has cost.
Yes, if he is an Officer.
Me too, but then I did a search on Google and found this post on a Kerry blog from January 2004:
Here is a snippet from that post: "For Kerrys bravery, Rassman recommended that Kerry be recognized, and Kerry was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V."
I've also found articles claiming that it was the Bronze Star and not the Silver Star that he recommended Kerry for.
The thing that bothers me about it all is that Kerry saves this guy's life, the guy recommends Kerry for a Silver or Bronze Star, and they never see each other again until 2004? Rassman himself said that if it wasn't for John Kerry, he wouldn't be alive today. If that's true, why didn't Kerry or Rassman ever keep in touch? It all sounds so strange to me. On another site, it states that Rassman had tried to contact Kerry in 1984, but that he never heard back from Kerry. Kerry claimed he never got the message (yeah right!).
I also read that Rassman is a retired Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy, who claims he decided to call the campaign and offer his help, even though he was a registered Republican. He lives in Oregon. Rassman was born in 1948. That would have made him 20 or 21 at the time of the incident. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces. No mention of college, so I'm wondering how he received his bars. According to online information, Rassman retired ten years ago from the Sheriff's Dept. That would have made him about 46 years old...pretty young for retirement. Wonder what he's done since then other than growing orchids...his hobby. I don't know, the whole thing sounds rather bizarre to me.
anyone, including yourself can be put up for an award its just up to the proper individual in the chain of command to authorize the award.
According to this article .. he was an Officer
Adolf Hitler and Timothy McVeigh were both decorated combat veterans. Does that mean no one can never criticize them, who was not in their squad?
RELEASE THE RECORDS and CLEAR THIS UP!.
Looking at Kerry's DD214 on his website, I see that there is no mention of his Purple Hearts or his Silver and Bronze Stars in the Awards and Decorations section.
As he was released from active duty a year after the incidents and 7 months after being awarded the Purple Hearts, I find this odd that they are not listed on the DD214.
Was it commonplace during the Vietnam era that such things took time to catch-up to your records? Or am I just missing something?
FYI bio update...Tonight Rassman said he became a Democrat in January.
So I heard.
Probably about the same time he started receiving checks from John Kerry.
I'm with you, from the first time this guy surfaced I have been suspicious of his story. And orchids? It reminds me of some of those bad mafia movies where the toughest guy is always shown out in his garden.
Rassman hasn't been a Republican since January.
Mine are listed on my DD 214
