August 6, 2004 -- THE "American Taliban" is coming to New York.

A new musical about John Walker, the so-called "American Taliban" who was captured by the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, will play the New York International Fringe Festival starting Aug. 15.

The work, which is being billed as "an emotional and musical roller coaster both insanely funny and dramatically gripping," traces Walker's life from his home in Northern California to war-torn Afghanistan.

"John Walker is probably the most vilified public figure of the last 50 years," said Jean Strong, who wrote the book, music and lyrics along with John McCloskey.

I hear the dance number "Detonating My Heart For You" is phenomenal, with a dozen singing, dancing suicide terrorists blowing themselves up, but they're going through dancers like crazy!

I hear ROn Reagan is trying out for the lead.

Another folk "hero" for the Left.

They just can't keep from obsessing over any celebrity, particularly if that person gained notoriety by criminal or dastardly acts.

I can't wait for the batlle reinactment: The Gay Taliban kick line holding fast like a satin sheet against the evil, American backed Northern Alliance.

These theater wingnuts are so predictable in their "artistic" direction they have become mundane.

"John Walker is probably the most vilified public figure of the last 50 years," said Jean Strong

Vilified? He went to a foreign country and joined a movement that was plotting insurrection against the United States. Little Johhny Walker Lindh is lucky he's not being hung for treason.

By the way, according to the article, the "performances" will be held at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Performing Arts at Pace University. That's only a few blocks from Ground Zero.
