DOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- A doctor whose homes were searched by FBI agents investigating the 2001 anthrax attacks was charged with assault for allegedly fighting with four family members at a motel just hours after the raids, authorities said.
Dr. Kenneth M. Berry, who founded an organization in 1997 that trains medical professionals to respond to chemical and biological attacks, was arrested Thursday afternoon by police responding to domestic dispute at the White Sands Motel in the resort community of Point Pleasant Beach. His relationship to the four was not immediately known.

CLINTON SEES LITTLE ANTHRAX THREAT TO CIVILIANS

President Clinton says he doesn’t plan to be vaccinated against the deadly bacteria anthrax and "couldn’t recommend" that civilian Americans be vaccinated.
The commander in chief’s comment at a news conference Tuesday came a day after the Pentagon announced it would begin inoculating all 2.4 million military personnel against anthrax next summer. The measure is meant to protect troops against biological warfare or a terrorist attack using anthrax spores.
Infection is usually fatal. Iraq and other countries possess anthrax in weapons form.
Medical and Public Health experts agreed with the president’s view.
"There is no reason now for broad public use of this vaccine ," said Phillip Russell, former president of the Army Medical Research and Development Command at Fort Detrick, MD. "The threat of exposure is too low to justify it."
The drug’s manufacturer and the Food and Drug Administration recommend that veterinarians and researchers who work with animals from countries where anthrax may be common consider getting inoculated.
Kenneth Berry, president of the American Academy of Emergency Physicians and head of PREEMPT, a counter-terrorism group based in Wellsville, N.Y. dissented from the mainstream medical advice.
‘We ought to be planning to make anthrax vaccine widely available to the population starting in the major cities," Berry said.
He said military experts believe that a terrorist attack in a major U.S. city using a biological weapon is likely within five years.

Not sure what to make of the (apparently the same person) cited in multiple stories claiming all of this was to cross Berry off the list, and he isn't a prime suspect. Just doesn't seem to ring true. And very odd he's arrested for hitting people right AFTER the searches begin.

Abstract
A surveillance system and method for identifying chemical, biological or nuclear attacks or hazards occurring within a large area which combines data derived from a modeling and simulation operation with a surveillance data input. The modeling and simulation operation involves continuous periodic runs of multiple scenarios for various biological, chemical and nuclear agents in various concentrations for a given location. Using real time weather data for each location, a model is made in a database of the effect various concentrations of agents would have at that location and this simulated model is processed. The surveillance data input monitors actual human signs and symptoms for the modeled area. This data with real time weather data is compared with the results of modeling and simulation data for the area to determine if a pattern matching that for any modeled agent is present.

Online news sites often change their headlines as the day progresses, as either new information or simple editorial whim dictates. You'll pick up on things like that, doubtless, as you go.
