Horrible, horrible news. Bush is in VERY BIG trouble. This number is beyond bad news, it will probably elect John Kerry president.

5.5% is nearly full employment.....I remember reading that comment somewhere back when unemployment used to be consistently in the 6's and 7's.

There is about a 4.5% residual unemployed group that will never be employed.

Someone help me here. Did the new welfare laws REQUIRE job applications in order to continue receiving welfare benefits after a certain amount of time on welfare?

The unemployment rate isn't the big story here, payroll growth was abysmal, that's the story.

Easy sport. A single month of jobs data isn't going to get anyone elected. But nice try.

Oh brother. Some of you people just amaze me. We're still creating jobs, but you buy into the expectations game and about slit your wrists. Geez.

The expert econonmists were expecting 200,000 plus jobs. Why are they most always wrong? They have missed the mark more then once this year.

With 5.5% unemployment? You have been listening to the MSM too long. Yes, they will try and make this bad news, but I remember when 10% unemployment was the norm.

The problem here is not the numbers, but the spin the media will use. They want Kerry to win, and they will "manage" the news to do it - whatever it takes.

We're still creating jobs,

When 150k jobs need to be created just to employ those entering the workforce, a number of 32k is hardly anything to rally around. It means around 120k people didn't get a job this month that wanted one.

And thats the political problem as it gives the rats a "spin" that the economy is still not good.
