WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican Sen. John McCain, a former prisoner of war in Vietnam, called an ad criticizing John Kerry's military service "dishonest and dishonorable" and urged the White House on Thursday to condemn it as well.

"It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me," McCain said in an interview with The Associated Press, referring to his bitter Republican primary fight with President Bush.

Will McCain make up his mind as to what side he's on? I don't like the ads myself, but what can you do when your opponent refuses to discuss the issues?

Why in God's name won't McCain personally TALK to these vets if he's so upset about it! Take a Stand, McCain!

Because he's too busy figuring out how he's going to get back at Bush.

Kerry can't have it both ways.
Either he lied(which I know he did regarding others) about the "mass atrocities" or he committed war crimes himself.
Which is it, Ketchup?

I Condemn the fraudulent "I McCain/Feingold this message".

"I don't understand what you mean."

McCain in his vanity sought to take of all things "money" out of politics. Part of his cleansing was the requirement of the candidate to state in the ad their name and they "approve" this ad.

I am sick of hearing every ad the candidates voice giving their name and stating "I approve this ad". I wish come creative candidate would utter the words "I McCain/Feingold" this ad, instead of "I (their name) "approve" this ad.

McCain is a fraud and he is no different than JFKerry IMO....

And when did McCain condemn the Moveon.Org (and other fringe pro-Kerry groups) ads calling Pres. Bush a deserter, a liar, etc? Total silence from McCain on those insulting and erroneous ads, as well as the fact they are illegal according to his CFR.

Yep. This dude is given a big primetime speaking role which he does not deserve. You can tell the moderate and liberal Republican losers are planning this convention. They don't a have a clue.

Did you ever get the feeling that this whole thing is being orchestrated?

I mean, hell, we've all been concentrating on kerry's VN service and the lies he's told about it...but that's ALL!

OK...so he lied! He knows it; we know it.

Those who are anti-Bush are not bothered in the least about kerry's lies - regardless of topic.

How's about we begin to concentrate on kerry's record as Senator? At least it's in the public record; he can't deny it! He can spin it; he's good at that, but he can't deny it.

The VN stuff, while important, is creating a smoke screen around the issues of his many years in the Senate. There is enough ammunition in those years to sink this idiot below the waves of public conscienceness.

Come on, let's leave the Swifties to their comments and move on. We've got a target rich environment in front of us, and we're all concentrating on how deep to dig the latrine.

Let's start attacking this scumbag where it'll do the most good - his congressional record!

Very true. It's a trap. If these veterans want to do this ad, nothing can stop them but Republicans need to move on. Attacking Kerry's record is the key. How someone could spend 20 years in Congress and be known for absolutely NOTHING is what will resonate with people.

As it is, none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded.

McCain uses this very carefully constructed piece of spin to misrepresent the Swifties' message.

Kerry uses the exact same carefully crafted "on" deception later in the day in the threat to stations letter.

If any of the captains lied and said they were "on" the same boat when they weren't, that will be the one working for the Democrats...planted to be exposed later so as to destroy the credibility of the entire group.
