I'm surprised that he survived 17 years in prison, and that one of the *general population* didn't "Dahmer-ize" him.

Let me tell you what Steinberg did in prison: He was officially employed in jail as a "paralegal," helping fellow sociopaths re-open their cases, file for appeals, do legal research, etc, ad nauseum. You can win many, many favors from the fellow inmates and their begrudging respect.
That's not how I understand it's been, historically:
