I'm sure these guys were prepared for what's coming. I can't imagine that they thought this ould be a 'cake walk'. Anyone who has had their eyes on the DNC for the past decade know they are ruthless.
My thinking is that they are leading with weak hands on this, because if they use their stong and mighty it will look like they are beating up on the elderly swifties. And that would not be good for many reasons -- (1) the swing voters love the perceptual underdog, and the swifties would look like an underdog, (2) making the swifties look bad makes the swifties experience look bad, and that tarnishes the bright and shining War Hero (TM) record, and (3) if the Swifties look like infirm elderly getting beat up left and right -- like old geezers who can barely remember where they put the car keys -- what the heck does that make JFK PT-Boat Kerry look like. Gee, he must be a doddering geezer too.
