You guys are pretty good with the Illinois Q & A but I missed a couple of Houlihan's questions myself and I've lived here in Old Chi since the mid-60s.

Is it possible that Obama is another empty suit like Kerry?

I've thought for some time that Kerry was a strutting empty suit. But, now I'm beginning to think Kerry is more like a leech.

Kerry would shrivel up, if he could not live off of others.

Kerry needs expensive toys, expensive food, and people whom he can regularly attack.

Ok, so we all agree that Keyes has strong rhetoric. We also agree that Keyes is unashamed of his conservative views.
I have met Dr. Keyes in person a few years ago and he is a fine man. Illinois would be blessed to have him as a Senator. He is not perfect, but even on his worst day he is better for this state (and country) than a socialist.

"Republicans" like Schwarzenegger enjoying power and prestige are a worse evil than the Democrats. Because they wear the Republican label, they defuse the opposition that would otherwise be roused against the positions they take. They operate in politics as the AIDS virus operates in the body – it fools the cell into thinking it is a defender against infection, all the while silently reprogramming that same cell to work for the death of the man.

Keyes i a very angry man. Scary, actually.

I think he is right on the money.

I am willing to support Keyes as long as he is a team player. If he goes off the reservation and starts in on Bush, I will withdraw my support.

Should he do so, I will do everything in my power to remove him from public life.

Arracking President Bush in a high-profile Senate race could conceivabley cost us the election. Should he do so, I will be his sworn enemy.

I would think that Obama would make a great Simpsons character.

He could easily be a good friend of Mayor Quimby, who is hilariously like a Kennedy.

Thanks for exposing yourself. ! Have a nice evening.

You are acting like a total prig. Usually your subhearing level rants are just sleep inducing but this pathetic attack is an expression of personal pique.

No surprise there. I'll bet you were a McClintock supporter, right?

Which means you were a Bustamante supporter.

I agree MM.

I can understand your qualms, but I sincerely believe that Alan Keyes is in this race to challenge Obama and the demos.

The Chicago Tribune did the damage by taking out a legitimate candidate in Ryan. He was going to lose, but why not let the people decide?

No, the Illinois GOP did the damage by rejecting Ryan. If my husband did what Ryan did, well, never mind, but for crying out loud, this is a *political* campaign. If Ryan were a British conservative, the papers would have a good laugh about it & that would be that. Puritanism is going to lose them the election - say hi to Obama for the next 30 years, because that's what they're going to get. Of course, they can feel good about being the "pure" ones. That makes a big difference when Obama is voting straight liberal.

Nah. If Keyes goes after Bush, in an election season, it will be his modus operandi. He doesn't have the stature to cost Bush any votes.

I don't think he'll do it, though; he knows, if he does, he's finished in politics.

Dennis Hastert is supporting him, which is a plus.

I retain a lot of memories of 2000, including personal experiences with the Gore campaign.

I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he crosses us, he is toast.

I thought I would post some of the colorful language used by the author to describe Ambassador Keyes. It is the typical left wing name calling. If you don't agree with me then you are a bigoted, intolerant, homophobic, racist, ultra-right wing, redneck, uneducated, etc, etc, etc....

The following adjectives and descriptions were found in the article:

ultra-conservative; arch-conservative; strong right-wing views; he is not even in the mainstream; frequent rants express opinions similar to those of Rush Limbaugh and other Far Right spokespersons; far-right positions..

There were several more intimated labels. Interestingly, the writer only refers to Mr. Obama a Democrat State Senator. I guess Mr. Obama is mainstream in the author's view? Many of us laugh at the lefts name calling, but it is a tactic that is often effective. Far too many otherwise conservative people give in to the name calling. Many can't wait to jump through liberal hoops in order to appear "moderate", "tolerant", or "reasonable".

I disagree. The Tribune did not have to pursue the divorce records. They know the dirt on everybody and they make choices every day on what to run. Ryan was going to lose. Their pursuing their agenda ruined an election that was legitimate until they interfered, IMHO.

That's one of the most retarded twists of logic ever to grace FR.
