"Look at that cute little guy... Was he at the party?"

I just thought that readers might like to see my pic so that they will recognize me at the next FR event :-)

Just had to say I enjoyed this thread as a lurker. Looks like everyone had so much fun!

It's nice to put a couple of names I recognize to faces.

I wish we Minnesota FReepers were more organized. Great FReepers here but there's some Minnesota thing going on (I'm a South Dakota native myself.)

I used to visit my grandfather in Seattle every summer but that was EON's ago. Beautiful country. Especially loved the rainforest, and as a kid of the 60's, the Space Needle. He's been gone a loooong time now, but I still have one of the floating thingie glass balls fishermen use in their nets on my mantle. It's so cool, and yes, I'm so obviously a landlubber!

Glad to say I moved from central Minneapolis 3 weeks ago to MN lakes country. I've got my own American eagle flying around that has a huge nest on a local watertower. It's an incredible sight.

Looks like your party absolutely rocked! (Got any ribs left? They looked awesome!)

Freegards to all Puget Sound FReepers!

Suzie

The Story of a FReeper Chapter is an essay that might help you get your fellow FReepers more organized.

Thanks Publius,

I'll be checking out your link shortly.

Would've loved to hear your toast. I bet JimRob got glowing reviews because I sure would've given him a big HUZZAH!.

This is the only place that has kept me reasonably sane since Sept. 11th, '01.

Wish I would've discovered it during the Klintoon years. Rush got me through that period.

Here's to a healthy MN Chapter....going to read your link.

Thank you.

Suzie

Hi Suzie! So glad you stopped by! All I can say is that our chapter is awesome. Some like to party. Some like to FReep. Some like to do both. I treasure anything they offer - after all, they are volunteers :)

When I first started as Chapter Leader after Publius, it took a while to start getting homes for parties again. But if you don't have homes, restaurants are fine for a while. It's good to have quaterly meetings at least. (Publius is good at pushing me :)

We became more active in FReeping too. LOL Now if I don't get right on it I have some chapter members sending ME FReepmail and posting on Locale, rather than the other way round. Which is GOOD, because FReep & Rally Leaders are great to have in different areas.

If you let your FReepers volunteer what they do best naturally - you'll go far. Sionnsar is our official photographer. I used to put up all after reports and pictures, but he has taken over beautifully! And now American Sovereignty Defender is our Video Man. He works with our local conservative radio stations and support our troops organizations. Cyber Cowboy777 totes the "official" chapter ping list and responds quickly when called. Billthedrill brews the best micro-brew ever, and we are losing him to Idaho! AAAARRRGGGGHHHH - (Though he promises to come back and party sometimes :)

Other FReepers are extraordinary in their own ways, be they smart, active, patriotic, determined, great cooks, happy campers, erudite entertainers... Best of all we all get along famously :)

I know you will get your chapter going too, and have fun doing it! We all make a difference, and this is a wonderful family. (Thanks Jim! ;) BTTT

Wow! Just perused the link.

That's the kind of activism conservatives need to to do. I truly admire your perseverance.

That's the deal though, so many people thrive on emotion like the mushy middle, that they never have the backbone to develop actual convictions and truths that guide them through life.

I've been through the "school of rough knocks" and have a BA in Journalism (Shudder) from Tom Brokjaws "U") My only claim to fame is creatingproducing innoucuous HGTV series that no ones ever heard about - good thing!.

Thanks for the link to the Story of a FReeper Chapter. I had never read it yet.
I have been on and off with life here on the Free Republic Board since 1999 and do want to get on the front, so to speak, of the action. Preaching to the converted is quite boring. Nice to make your aquaintance at the party as well as many others. I was amazed at how organized and large it was. Indeed should be the envy of many other chapters. I see we are fortunate here in the Puget Sound area.

Hey JD & Mrs. Their Just Due, How about sharing your chili & crab dip recipies? (please?) :)

A wonderful party Libertina! A day, I know, we won't soon forget. Thank you so much for hosting it.

Mrs. Theirjustdue is fast asleep (our having spent the day taking our four grandsons to the Ballard locks, but I'll do my best to pass her crab salad recipe on to the chapter.

Mrs Theirjustdue's crab salad:

Approx. 4 cups cracked Dungeness Crab

Chopped Celery to taste

Chopped Sweet Wala Wala onion to taste

Now here's the secret:

Just enough cubed white bread, trimmed of crust, and buttered on both sides to absorb the moisture and give it added bulk (We're lucky and get the crab, literally, from our doorstep, here on Camano Island, but if it had to be purchased, the ratio of crab to cubed bread could be adjusted without any noticeable loss in taste or quality).

A generous amount of Mayonnaise (to taste).

Mix well by hand and let stand overnight in refrigerator.

Serve over a bed of lettuce and/or garnish with with parsley, chopped green onion chive and sprinkle lightly with paprika.

Note: Four cups of crab made enough to fill the large foil container we brought to the party, so unless it's a comparably sized crowd, much, much less crab will due.

BTW, Our daughter and her two son's had a blast and she assures me she will register and no longer be a lurker.

You are most welcome - Oui, oui, bien sur - the name is French...in honor of my great grandfather whose nickname was Papa' (the emphasis is on the second a - no accent there).

It is so difficult today to admit one's provenance as being French. I have many other nations in my background nottheleast of which is Iroquois Nation Mohawk dating back to the capture of Fort No. 4 Charelstown New Hampshire during the early 1700's.

WOW!!! What an event. Such beautiful happy faces. It's truly an honor and privilege to be associated with such a generous wonderful group of American patriots.

I get to go home in the afternoon Tuesday, charged up and good for another 3,000 miles. I can't wait. This place will make you sick. The meals are so bad, I started asking for an IV instead of the food tray.

Did Clemenza's leek quiche taste good? No wonder he finds Seattle homey. Real North westerners don't eat quiche. (Just kidding, I'm going to make it sometime myself since the recipe was posted), after what I've been getting for the past 4 days an unwashed raw leek sounds pretty darn good.

I've made my physician promise to reschedule any future procedures if they interfere with FReeper activities. This is twice now, he's messed with a Freeper event. I still haven't gotten to meet CarryOkie face to face. No More. I'm beginning to think he may be a member of DU. LOL

Thanks for thinking about me and the wife this past weekend. Wonder what I'll manage to do for our 28th anniversary? It'll be kinda hard to top this one...NOT. LOL!

Talk to you soon, thanks for the ping.

Howdy everyone! I'm finally back online. Doggone laptops anyway! It sure picked a bad time to flake out on me.

We had a great time in Seattle! Thank you Libertina for having us over. It was great meeting you all.

Jim

You'll be sure to come back and party with us again. :-)
We're not that far...and we have arguably the hardest surroundings...so we need lots of *support*! LOL.

Oh yes the hay made it home just fine, and is being eaten quite happily. On the way home we sang the Beverly Hillbillies song and remembered Jed and Granny. Then we dreamed of having more of Billthedrill's ale.....mmmmm.
That was truly wonderful stuff!

I truly admire your perseverance.

To paraphrase Mae West, "Perseverance had nothing to do with it." Without my fellow FReepers, I'm just some guy sitting at home during our gray, wet winters, watching TV or listening to classical music. FReepers are a wonderful source of human contact.
