Ex-President Bill Clinton expects former first lady Nancy Reagan to attend the opening of his presidential library in Little Rock on Nov. 18. Reports U.S. News & World Report: "Clinton Presidential Foundation boss Skip Rutherford reports that the Secret Service is casing the joint and drawing up security perimeters for the event that's expected to draw President Bush and maybe even Nancy Reagan."
Both the sitting president and the iconic former first lady? Somehow we think Mr. Rutherford may be blowing smoke on this one.
A more likely guest would be Gregg "Opie" Hughes, part of the "Opie and Anthony" radio duo who were canned in 2002 for broadcasting audio of a couple having sex in New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.
According to the Boston Herald, Bubba was spotted hanging with Hughes during a book signing Saturday on Long Island.

As hard as it may be to believe, this is a bit of a cheap shot against Bill Clinton. Whatever our opinions are of him or his Presidency, he's a member of a unique fraternity, and there are certain protocols and respects that members pay to each other. Invitations to the opening of the Clinton Presidential Library were almost certainly extended to President Bush and all former Presidents and their widows. It would be a snub not to do so, and can sometimes be a snub to not accept such an invitation. Jimmy Carter, in his typical hubris, took the opportunity of the opening of the Nixon Presidential Library to take a shot at President Nixon, though he did attend the opening of the Reagan Library. The Secret Service has to not only provide security for the event althogether, the individual Secret Service teams responsible for the the private security of Mrs. Reagan and the other members of the Presidential fraternity would also have to coordinate their plans and prepare for any eventuality. Mrs. Reagan may or may not attend, and she shouldn't be faulted for whatever decision she makes, as I'm sure she would do so gracefully, but it would have been disrespectful for President Clinton to not have invited her.

Ex-President Bill Clinton expects former first lady Nancy Reagan to attend the opening of his presidential library How preposterous is that, for goodness sake. His sycophants will say anything to keep his name in the media.

I think Nancy will have something more important to do that day...like darning some socks.

What is the tradition when a former President opens his library?

I want to see Clinton live to a ripe old age. I want to see Chelsea's grandchildren ask him if all the awful stuff the history teacher said about him is true. (Of course, he'll lie and say it isn't -- but he'll know that the history books, and not his lies, will be what will live on.)
