FR has been dummed down to grade school level... Speaking of being dumbed down (uh, ahem) ...the miniature yellow school bus is waiting for you.

I cant see her on the NWS corpus or brownsville radar either. Or any of the Coastal NWS sites.
Mobile, AL shows some related precip coming from that way.

Thought you might like these 2 links for comparison.

Charlie sure looks impressive on the sat loop, especially compared to Bonnie.
It looks nearly as big as Texas.

Great site.
I found this pic, shows Bonnie and Charlies infrared.
4 or 5 bonnies could fit inside Charlie.

If I remember There was a bonnie and Charlie about 5 years ago. The combined together and tore up the Texas gulf coast between Brownsville and Corpus Christie. Than they caused a big flood in Del Rio Texas, and swept away some people. The storm(s) wash out all the roads and the only drinking water was brought in by C-5 into Laughlin (sp?)_ AFB. I remember this because I was there at the AFB, and my mom and dad's name are Bonny and Charlie.
How can there be a Bonnie and Charlie so soon. Do they not retire names?

I agree.
Charley could be one mean hurricane when it hits the Gulf of Mexico.
If it gets that far, it could easily be a Category 3 hurricane, maybe more.
To: Veloxherc
I think they don't retire the names unless they were really devastating. I think those storms, though they were destructive, didn't even make Category 3 strength.

Bonnie may not even become a hurricane before landfall and it's certainly much smaller than Charlie. I don't think there's much doubt that Charlie is the one that deserves the most attention.

Last year's hurricane season was fun and not fun at the same time, with Isabel coming up to coast right through my home region.

"It is called a JOKE. Obviously some people can't realize that."
People who live where hurricanes strike rarely find anything humorous about them. Don't take it personally, we just really, really, hate hurricanes.

I know. :-) If I were in your specific area, I'd be more concerned myself.

I know I should be - but I'm really not..............I tend to be more concerned about the folks that live on the barrier islands that protect this part of the mainland. And right now I'm more concerned with the folks on the gulf coast.
We've had so much rain this summer that the amount generated by a hurricane would probably seem miniscule!!!

Yeah, we really don't have to worry about water this year. This past weekend, I took a trip down to Charlottesville, and on the way there, we saw a bit of farmland, and the corn looks good!

Don;t let Bonnie lull you. Opal was just a small and disorganized when she formed in 1995, and within 24 hours she was packing 150 MPH winds. Luckily for the Panhandle she faded and came in at 125.
She was a small storm, but a fierce fighter, her winds were still pushing 100 when she crossed us here in Montgomery, AL and tore the snot out of my trees and fence.

Look at the similarities between the track of Opal back in 1995 and the possible track of Bonnie:
You can read the NHC's entire report on Opal here.

Ugh. Hope that doesn't happen again. My chain saw is all fired up and ready to go, though. Gotta pull the ole generator out just in case.
Do you know if all the rain we're having today is part of this storm?
