I think she is in the landfill. If he was truly the strategic liar that people seem to think, his story would be that she confronted him and that something "accidentally" happened to her (like she fell down stairs, hit her head on the floor, perhaps even slit her own wrists, etc.) and that he panicked and hid the body. That way they'd never find her AND there would be no way of telling if he actually did kill her. But he's admitted shooting her, and is now facing murder 1. It wouldn't make sense for him to admit to something that brings the top charge but lie about where the body is. They've already got enough evidence to convict.

Lori heard the voice mail first, and when Hacking came home, she confronted him. He took off in his car, and when Lori couldn’t find him, she called the Hamiltons. “She was just crying on the phone,” says Hamilton.

This was more than likely about college classes, about 2 years ago or so. So....the parents did know at some point he was lying sometimes.

Yeah, well that would be the next story to spew out. He killed her cuz he was playing some demonic game on Nintendo. Geez.

I doubt that Lori would have allowed him to play a demonic game. I wondered if the game were something like Dear Deer Hunter.

If she was sleeping, I doubt she had any say on what he "could and could not do". He pretty much did whatever he wanted despite what she thought anyway.

My understanding is that without the body they can't go for 'aggravated' murder plus the longer it takes to find the body the less likely it will be to determine if she was indeed pregnant. If she was pregnant then you have multiple deaths and it could bring the death penalty. So, he could have a vested interest in the police NOT finding her body or not finding it soon enough.

That's just mean. But I think I know the type you refer to.

I know a couple that lives in OK. They are both in the early 30s. They have two daughters; one is 4, the other is 2. The husband is a network engineer of some sort and the wife stays home to raise the kids. They make a good salary, but his youthful exuberance put them tens of thousands of dollars into debt.

Even though they always seem to struggle to make ends meet and provide for their children, the husband often throws fits if he doesn't get what he wants. It seems to work pretty well for him too. So far he has won out on getting a X-Box, satelite TV, tivo, and tickets to see Rush (not Limbaugh) and Metallica. I can almost sympathize with him on the Rush tickets, almost.

He once called his wife while he was away on a business trip and tried to convince her to move the family to California, where they would share a home with one of his co-workers. She could stay home and raise the children, including his co-worker's three kids, and together they would help his co-worker repair the home until it was ready to sell, at which time they would split the profits. The wife told him absolutely not to which he threw another fit. His response to her was along the lines of "FINE! We'll just all DIE in Oklahoma then!"

I'm not buying the "feel sorry for him because he came from a family of overachievers" bit. Too bad! This sociopaths had a wonderful wife, supportive parents and family..he had it all. When will people learn that some people are just downright evil? I think Mark Hacking is one of them.

All of my thoughts and prayers go out to poor Lori and her unborn child, who didn't have a chance.

BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if before it's over with, he'll say he was on steriods and that made him crack, if the insanity thing doesn't work out for him.

Not true. He smoked, but NOT in front of her, nor in their home. He hid it from her. Why? Because LDS do not smoke. They do not drink caffeine. I sincerely doubt they play demonic games. She would know if their were demonic games in the apartment.

I can think of worse places to live and die--some parts of California, in fact, would qualify.

I didn't say you did. I was referring to some of the comments made by his family. A defense attorney will jump all over that, to try to invoke sympathy for the murderer.

Just amazing, the web of lies. How could he ever keep them straight? Did he ever consider that it would have taken far less effort to do the darned work and actually take those classes than it did to fake taking them?

By the way, there are a lot of interesting details in this article, posted on another thread. Including the wee tiny mention that it took days before the Hacking brothers went to the police with what they knew.

It is interesting on many levels,I agree; and has many unanswered questions. How could she sleep being so distraught, I for one would still be awake...I guess we all handle stress different but sleep would certainly evade me...Unless of course I took a sleeping pill, wonder if he slipped her something, odd that she would not hear him playing nintendo or coming into the bedroom...guess its possible she is a heavy sleeper, but it all seems too odd.

First clue that something wasn't right is the fact that he's a grown man with a 5-week-pregnant wife who STILL PLAYS NINTENDO.

My thoughts exactly. Where's the XBox, the Playstation 2, even a GameCube would be understandable, but a NINTENDO?!? What a freak.

There is something in this story that reminds me of John Kerry in Viet Nam. I believe that Kerry and this guy have something of a "Walter Mitty" complex. Kerry daydreams about going to Cambodia on Christmas and engaging in heroics, while this bozo dreams of academic success and med school.

Both men (if they can be called that) are repulsive.

"Certainly, Teresa should consider sleeping with one eye open."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1188267/posts

The pictures are funny and the comments are hysterical, but this news article stated Senator John Kerry tried to convince his wife, Teresa, to walk to the edge as they visited the South rim of the Grand Canyon yesterday.

Teresa refused to go near the edge of the canyon with him.

Some people are a weird combination of narcissist and weakling. Hacking looks like he fits the bill. When such a person is shamed, if he is pathological enough, he may take extreme measures to avoid facing the disappointment of a loved one.

A boy in Oregon killed his parents some years back for the same reason - shame over disappointing them. He was 15, and a very confused, immature 15 at that. Hacking might be just as immature emotionally as the boy was, but his crime is more heinous and damnable because at 28 he should have been able to recognize the permanency and injustice of the terrible act he was about to commit.
