No more FLDS daily threads. If you consider this censorship, so be it, find another site, but they stop now.

It is not unfair. The weekly threads were a good idea when they started.

But they have turned into an avenue for bashing Mormons in general instead of FLDS in particular.

And that needs to end.

In one sense, I should probably feel relieved. The Daily Threads were a lot of work, and enormously time consuming. I have a stack of projects that have been delayed because of it, and I won't even get into the spring gardening that needs attention. But it was work I gladly did, and time I (mostly) gladly spent, because once I started to find out what the fLDS was truly about, I really wanted to expose them for what they were. A lot of lives are being not only ruined, but destroyed.

That said, I am a guest at this board, and I shall do as my host(s) say. There will be no more daily threads.

At the same time, I have to admit that I'm less than comfortable associating, even for the sake of debate, with people who would rather see abused children stay with their abusers than to see action on a state level to investigate and, if necessary, stop the abuse. The fact that there were valid warrants and solid law for the action makes no difference, and is largely ignored because of a general hatred for the government.

And that is another thing I find deeply disturbing. I love my country. I have been in other countries, and known people who have lived in places like Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, among many other countries. When it comes to government and especially justice, ours is the best that can be found anywhere on earth. ANYWHERE. It is the best that ever was, and possibly that ever will be. Are there warts? You bet there are (Waco and Ruby Ridge come to mind, for two examples), but compared to everything else, ours is still the best.

To insist that everything our government does is evil is not only misguided, but just plain wrong. I'm just not comfortable keeping company with America haters and child abuse apologists.

Like the daily threads, I'm probably off the boards for the most part barring a change in the climate (unlikely).
