The most reasonable explanation is that Kerry cultivated these "Band of Bros" for years-- they have probably been paid.
The only reason Rassman was in the water was because Kerry made a herky jerky move after Swift Boat Three (not the boat he was on) hit the mine. Kerry fled-- there was no enemy fire, and the Swifties fire wasn't directed at Rassman.

Not necessarily so. Most (all?) of these guys are small potatoes in America. Association with a Senator turned Prez Nominee is as close to the celebrity altar of America as they will ever get. Ever been around somebody who "grew up with -----"? They wear the one degree of seperation like a medal.
Well doesn't Kerry put the ones who travel with him up in 4-star hotels?
