Kerry Busy Outsourcing Jobs to China
Boston Capital & Technology ^

Posted on 08/11/2004 9:00:50 AM PDT by Smedley

Boston Capital & Technology (BCT) recently held the first U.S. trade mission to the People's Republic of China organized and sponsored by a private corporation that was led by a U.S. Senator. To close the Mission, BCT hosted a banquet in Beijing's legendary Great Hall of the People.

Through this Mission and dozens of other on the ground initiatives undertaken by BCT every year, BCT is able to advance their manufacturing projects in China, the projects of their partners and clients, and the position of dozens of other associated U.S. companies establishing positions throughout mainland China.

I could not find a date on this, but it looks as if Senator Dork was busy outsourcing manufacturing jobs to China in the late 1990s

Well I guess that it was OK for him to be involved in those deals because he was just supporting it then, and he doesn't support it now. At least publicly.

Someone posted earlier on another thread that most of the Heinz manufacturing plants are located abroad. Yet Kerry goes around bashing Bush about overseas outsourcing, then turns around and says well, we don't have direct control over the day-to-day operations of the Heinz business. But, cripes, if you have control over anything, it should be your own family's business. How can the guy claim to be able to "do something" on the national level about this if he can't even do anything about his own family's business operations?

I guess it is like Kerry's SUV. "The family" owns that, it isn't his, so he can't be responsible for it. Geez, what a clown.

I saw much of the same, but it appears here that Kerry was ACTIVELY looking to outsource jobs to China. I don't see Ter-e-za anywhere

So John Kerry voted for outsourcing before he voted against it?

It's ironic that Kerry is bashing Bush regarding the outsorcing - when his wife outsources everyday - 57 companies of the Heinz Kerry are overseas. It's also ironic, that Kerry proposed a taxlaw last year, and implemented - to solely benefit his wife companies overseas. Edwards the same - he also outsource jobs, investing in outsourcing...the Dems are such hypocrites.

"I think it's not only wise, Bob, I think it's absolutely vital to our future and to our foreign policy as well as to larger interests that we have at stake with China."

--John Kerry on PNTR to CBS' Bob Schieffer, 1997

Kerry led the fight for PNTR. Seriously. Beginning in 1987, Kerry was writing legislation - yeah, some HE actually co-sponsored - to increase trade with China. He started pushing PNTR in 1991.

Now he runs around blaming President Bush for job outsourcing.

How does this show that he is different than President Bush?

For one, Senator Dork is screaming bloody murder about Bush outsourcing jobs, and has vowed to stop the flow of jobs overseas

It's ironic that Kerry is bashing Bush regarding the outsorcing - when his wife outsources everyday - 57 companies of the Heinz Kerry are overseas

The Heinz family divested itself from most of it's interests in the namesake company many years ago.
Teresa's inheritance has given her influence over the Heinz charitable foundations, but not the H. J. Heinz company.
If you want to believe otherwise, that's fine by me,
but it's basicly a misguided and irrelevant effort.

And what's Dubya's position on this issue this week?
That outsourcing is not actually happening?
or that Americans losing their industries and jobs is supposed to be "good" for us?

You miss the point in that its not relavant. Bush is a free-trade advocate, and outsourcing is a natural occurance.

Kerry has made it a point to criticize Bush on outsourcing, but Kerry, unlike Bush, has made direct efforts to cause such outsourcing.

"How does this show that he is different than President Bush?"

That's a REALLY....weird....question. President Bush neither co-sponsored or voted "YEA" on PNTR. He was not a member of the senate. John Kerry THEN:

"Engagement is a course best pursued by granting China Permanent Normal Trade Relations and bringing it into the WTO. It is in the best interests of our economy and it is in the best interests of our foreign policy, and I hope we can all join together in moving the United States Senate and our Nation in that direction.

"If the U.S. fails to support PNTR, and thus fails to take advantage of the benefits of China's inevitable membership in the WTO, U.S. companies stand to lose market share and U.S. workers may lose jobs to European and Asian companies that gain a strong foothold in China."

-- John Kerry on senate floor, 2000

John Kerry NOW:

"America has lost millions of manufacturing jobs. Just yesterday, we learned that the trade deficit hit a new record. As the trade deficit with China has ballooned, President Bush has stood on the sidelines. He has failed to do anything to effectively address China's predatory currency manipulation, its violation of intellectual property rights and other unfair trade practices that violate its international obligations."

--Kerry stump speech, April 2004

So, John Kerry began pushing PNTR in 1987, voted for it in 2000, gave it glowing praise and insisted it would CREATE jobs in the US - he never said how - but he is now blaming the effects of HIS baby on the president. He was apparantly for PNTR before he was against it.
