CAIRO, Egypt - An Islamic Web site carried a videotape Wednesday that appeared to show militants in Iraq beheading a man identified as a CIA agent. The authenticity of the videotape could not be verified immediately.
The Internet site, regarded as a clearing house for tapes and statements by Islamic extremist groups, displayed footage of eight militants surrounding a seated man who wore a sign around his neck bearing his photograph and the letters CIA along with the word "visitor."
In a close-up, the footage showed a masked militant holding a large knife to the man's throat, the militant chopped repeatedly at the neck, severing the head.
A masked militant was then shown holding the head aloft.

Personally I feel all these videos, (just like 911 and the jumpers that day) ought to be shown over and over again to Americans. This squeamishness we have about showing the true face of the enemy has undermined and dissipated the unity of post 911.

Dissipating the unity is just what the media wanted to happen. I don't think squeamishness has anything to do wit it.
They will get converted to murderers when the beheaded person will be an Associated Press journalist.
I think it's time we annouce to the towns of Najaf and Sadr, if you want to live, leave, otherwise tomorrow we'll be rebuilding the rubble of what used to be your town and everyone left in it will be dead! This has gone too far.... we have overwhelming force, let's use it!

I just saw it and it isn't pretty. Although the tape is of poor quality, it looks authentic. The guy looks like he's heavily drugged, or beaten. If you want to see it go to Ogrish dot com.

The footage, which lasted about four minutes, showed several scenes, including a masked militant holding a large knife to the captive's throat while they were apparently inside a room of a building.
In another scene, men were heard talking in Arabic around the captive until one broke into the conversation saying "open your eyes" repeatedly.
Later, the man was showing seated on a chair in what appeared to be the courtyard of a house surrounded by eight masked militants.
In a subsequent shot taken seconds later, a masked man was shown standing alongside the captive holding a large sabre-like sword before chopping repeatedly at his neck and severing the head.
The militant later held the head aloft as the voices of other men were heard yelling several times "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great). - Sapa-AP
The article's description of the man as "a CIA agent" is deceptive. There's no way to tell if he is or isn't. They make it sound as if the words "CIA" and "visitor" are on the same photo. I just saw the video and he seems to have a laminated tag around his neck that says "Visitor". Then, there's what looks to me like a color photocopied 8x11 (maybe smaller) picture on his chest of what looks like a person sitting at a table (the video is very poor quality). Written on that piece of paper is a long sentence in Arabic ending in the words "CIA". It seems to me the terrorists are the ones who wrote the Arabic sentence and "CIA". The man's laminated tag only says "Visitor". He may not even be American.
And when he is beheaded, he is either already dead or heavily drugged. He shows no signs of being awake.
I don't think so, were they called that when Pearl was beheaded?
