I agree, it gets pretty hard to get into high dudgeon about Watergate after the Clinton scandals. Truth be told, Filegate alone dwarfs any charges against Nixon. Nixon had Chuck Colson looking at one FBI file and going to the slammer for it.

Clinton (or a lackey whom he would not for some reason assign blame to) hired an opposition researcher into a spot where he could illegally do opposition research, and did. 900 felony counts of pulling files on Republicans for which there is no colorable explanation, not even counting pulling the files of 1100 Democrats in alphabetical order! Said opposition researcher "was fired" but nobody was "credited" with firing him because that would have implied responsibility for hiring him. And nobody was so much as indicted!

Watergate is washed up. Poor Bob Woodward.

I wonder if anybody noticed that the same people that were screaming for Nixon's blood were exactly the same people that wanted the North Vietnamese to win?

It's not a coincidence that the NVA couldn't win by direct attack while he was in office (Easter Offensive, 1973)...They had to wait until he was gone and an ineffectual president was in place.

Thanks for the post. On the anniversary of Nixon's demise, my liberal spouse had on Larry King. It was a repeat of three hours earlier (9pm Est). I told myself, please, please ignore it. I did not. There Woodward and Bernstein held forth. Woodward looked well preserved, Bernstein seemed to have heavy red lips( perhaps it was my T/V). Bernstein was talking from Italy, he looked like a drag queen.

The carefully contrived and measured toned down spite from Woodward, came forth. Quoth he: Nixon was probably the least of all men who should have been President. At 37 minutes into Kings show, they touched onto President Bush, no, they could not leave out the chance to denigrate him.

Woodward did demure on Iraq. Not so Bernstein. I ground my teeth. Then, determined not to let them get to me, I remembered Nixon.

If you hate those who hate you, he said, then they have won.

The studied cruelty of the left, the self serving malignant minds is evident. They cannot, even after they "won," attempt to consider whether it was an over kill. Win one for Dick Nixon, round about November.

Missing Nixon

That Tricky Dick that was ordering John Kerry into an awful "Christmas In Cambodia"
in 1968...before he was even sworn in as President?

This man wrote the best biography of Nixon ever written.

Well worth reading, and re reading.
