New Jersey Governor Resigns, Saying 'I Am A Gay American'
MTV via Google News ^

New Jersey Governor James McGreevey resigned from office Thursday, stating, "I am a gay American."

McGreevey spoke at a press conference in Trenton, New Jersey, Thursday afternoon (August 12), following allegations of corruption made by several of his political aides. The governor, who had served two years of his term, cited a "consensual affair with another man."

With his wife standing by his side, McGreevey announced his homosexuality. "From my early days in school until the present day," he said, "I noticed something that separated me from others."

"I have grappled with my own identity," McGreevey continued, describing how he struggled to align himself with what he felt were values that would make him part of a "traditional community."

"My truth is," he said, "that I am a gay American."

The governor then acknowledged his extramarital affair: "It was wrong, it was foolish, it was unacceptable," he said. "Let me be clear," the governor continued, "I accept total and full responsibility for my actions. However, I am required to do now, to do what is right, to correct the consequences of my actions and to be truthful to my loved ones, my friends and my family, and also, to myself."

Following the announcements of his homosexuality and extramarital affair, the governor explained that he felt the appropriate course of action was resignation.

"I am very proud of the things we have accomplished during this administration," McGreevey concluded, "and I want to thank humbly the citizens of the state of New Jersey for the privilege ... to govern."

McGreevey, who was elected the 51st governor of New Jersey on November 6, 2001, will leave office on November 15. His term would have run until January 17, 2006.

Under the state constitution, his successor will be Richard Codey, the current president of the state senate.

I thought this was a parody. It's on the frontpage of Google News and it linked to MTV.

I can imagine the media praise already for Mr. McGreevey .

In his press conference, McGreevey said:
In my most reflective and most spiritual point I have always asked 'which master should I serve'...I am a Gay American...this is an intensely personal decision"
My thought is that, yes, deciding which master to serve is an intensly personal decision, no matter how one goes about it...and it looks like McGreevey decided which master to serve...and it was the wrong one.

Sodomy, homsexuality, adultry...and so many more crimes and sins. Definitely, he chose to serve his master and that master has made him his and is now carefully leading him down to hell and misery...to join him there.

One ought to choose the right...choose the light...choose the King of Peace. The way may not be easy, but it will lead to joy, peace of mind, satisfaction, integrity, true love, and honor. Not these horrific counterfeits that this poor wretch is still falling for.

With his wife standing by his side...

Let's all hope that this doesn't drive her over the edge like it did Arianna Huffington.

Was McGreevey on his lover's staff, or was his lover on McGreevey's staff?

"I am a gay American" who put my Israili boyfriend on the New Jersey payroll for $110,000 a year in a high cabinet position he was totally unqualified for.

Just like the Association Press, somehow they FORGOT TO MENTION THAT HE IS A DEMOCRAT!!!!! Un-JF'nK believable! They just can't admit it. But whenever they tie Rowland into the story, they always mention that he was the GOP governor. And if I hear the word "gay american" one more time, I think I'm going shoot something. The guy is a crook, he's an adulterer, he's hitting on employees... and he decides to confess to being gay? Wow, that really does take big ones.

Why do Democrats have such a problem being faithful and keeping "it" in their pants?

I think it's a rotating Chairmanship so everyone gets their turn with the staff.

The Democrats are disenfranchising New Jersey voters. Don't let them get away with it!
