Um...for those of us who absolutely refuse to sign up to newspaper sites (especially a liberal piece of toilet tissue like the Mercury News), can somebody post a longer excerpt? Or does somebody have a Mercury News login?
I have to admit, I'd love to see the Iraqis do well. The one fly in that ointment is if they wound up playing the US soccer team...and we won. Wonder what kind of soccer riots THAT would set off?

We didn't make the Olympics (men's soccer), so it won't happen this go-around.

You don't need to worry about the Iraq-US match up. The US Soccer team didn't qualify for the Olympics, probably because football, not soccer, is the true American sport.
Soccer is a socialist European sport...Just Kidding. Someone will get mad at me for saying that.

I am not signed up for this newspaper. I just did a google search for Iraqi soccer and this was the one that came up. It linked right to it with no log in.
If this is a liberal paper, I sure hope it pisses off the libs. They probably don't get good news like this often. I am sure they would love to see the Iraqi's lose so they could blame Bush.
