He is probably a self righteous son of a gun.

I think he may well be one of the hysterical anti-smokers on this site - on this thread even!

"let's not get caught up in our OWN denial of the hard truth that smoking is a one-way dead end street -- and it DOES affect more than just the smoker!!!"

Let's see you provide one ounce of proof of the claim you make above! I double dog dare you. When you can't will you admit to taking the same tact as the left that you claim to despise so much?

Tobacco is a legal product, and until it is made ILLEGAL, that sorry sack of skunk crap has no business telling anyone what they can do with a legal substance.

She voluntarily signed onto the custody agreement.

"If you want to keep your kids you obey the judge."

I can't believe I just read that on a "conservative" discussion board!

"Yeah that's original...Adam and Eve thought that was great idea too and look where we are!!"

Somehow I find it hard to believe that a Judge has equal authority to God. They seem to think so. Apples and oranges never make for good comparisons.

While you are so supportive of ALL laws, do you support the laws making abortion legal? Do you also support the courts decision in Mass. that legalizes homosexual marriage?

I suspect you are willing to draw a line when it suits you and your morals.

...if you sign onto an agreement with somebody and the terms of that agreement are turned into a court order, as was the case here, violating the order is no longer just a case of violating a contract. It's contempt of court.

Well, you got me there. ...and if I had failed to pay the guy $50 after being ordered to by the court, I'd have been in contempt also.

What bugs me here, is that the judge feels the need to quote the unproven medical studies to augment his decision to hold her in contempt.

Very true, soon if you open that package of twinkies in front of your kids, off to jail you go.

"It is not Tyranny to tell people to do the right thing.

WE are allowed to disobey laws that are in direct opposition to GOD and his LAW....but that is all."

So, why did God grant the gift of Free Will? What value does forced morality hold? If we force all persons to be at equal morals, then what value is the free will given to us as a gift? Who gets to decide the morals to enforce?

If I agree to pay you $50 to mow my lawn (no disrespect intended), you mow it, and I fail to pay: you take me to court. The cops don't come and arrest me.

If there is a court order for you to pay and you don't pay, they will!

Fertilizer is a legal product. Blow it into the faces of children is ok with you?

That doesn't make this any easier for me personally to swallow.

If you want the Nanny state to decide what you can or cannot do with a legal substance that's fine with me. I frankly, cannot stand it.

I read about this case yesterday, but I can't remember what the news source was. The father and his current wife also smoke. There is more to this case. The mother had or has an alcohol problem as well. And there was something about her house being filthy. I'll have to search for it.

So, doesn't anyone see this as legislating from the bench?

We are supposed to be a nation of laws.

What LAW was broken? Show me the LAW passed by the LEGISLATURE that makes smoking around your own children a crime.

Do you understand what you read, I don't think so. First of all we are to obey laws that do not conflict with Scripture,,,,,maybe reiteration will get through to you. First of all, as a christian I would not be getting an abortion nor would I be trying to marry as a gay....since I can't even commit adultery or fornication that should be a given!

As for the laws of abortion and gay marriage I would oppose them and anyone who believed in them, however suppose Kerry would become President and I was still in Military ...would I have to obey him according to God..ABSOLUTELY. I may not agree with his beliefs, but if he gave me a direct order (not conflicting with God's word) then I would have to do it.

YOU SEE WE ONLY HAVE ONE CRITERIA,,,,GOD'S WORD, and he said to obey those in authority over us, and that includes judges. I draw the line at GOD'S RULES and you can find them in Scripture, THE BIBLE....if you had been reading it to find out what you were accountable for, you would have been able to have understood how God would have wanted her to behave.

Yup, just as I expected.

From this article.

Silvius, who smokes a pack of cigarettes a day and works as a waitress at a truck stop, had called the order prohibiting her from smoking around her children a violation of her rights. "It's ridiculous," she said yesterday before the hearing, noting that the order does not proscribe her ex-husband's behavior.

Silvius said the smoking issue came up after she petitioned for full custody of the children in 2002 because of a series of 911 calls for domestic disputes at the home of her ex-husband and his third wife. She said she did not believe the children were in a safe environment.

FREEWILL was given to choose God or not choose God, and to sin or not sin. So does that mean we are to sin, NO I don't see that in Scripture. AGAIN, let me refer you to God's Rules....its called THE BIBLE.

The world will always use their FREEWILL for selfish purposes, like the woman who defied the judge. It will get them the judgement they deserve for their disobedience. You reap what you sow, its as simple as that.

HOWEVER choose life and liberty in Christ, and if you obey laws not contrary to Scripture, then you will probably have a more productive life. We should try to change laws that are destructive, but that should be done according to the provisions provided....that's why we vote. Yes we should protest things we disapprove of, absolutely...but we don't shoot those we disagree with during the protest-that is against the law. It's called murder and I believe you can find that in Ten Commandments, and in NT under "love thy neighbor as thyself"...ciao

That's not quite what the Bible says. It may be your interpretation but that's not exactly what it says.

Mat 22:16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any [man]: for thou regardest not the person of men.

Mat 22:17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

Mat 22:18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, [ye] hypocrites?

Mat 22:19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.

Mat 22:20 And he saith unto them, Whose [is] this image and superscription?

Mat 22:21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
