Of course it was. Mathhews, being the dedicated journalist that he is, made up his mind ahead of time (didn't read the book) then went in there with an agenda to destroy them. This is the state of journalism in America these days and it needs to be addresses or we can expect this kind of fair treatment for the rest of our and our childrens lives.

I always thought Chris could rise above partisanship when truth was at stake.

Well, do you still think that?

I totally agree with you. I watched as much of it as I could handle. Matthews was a disgrace and his partisanship was so obvious it was disgusting. In my eyes, he has lost all credibility. I can never again watch him without knowing he's a DNC shill.

Found a little Hurley stuff, bet you can get more...

John Hurley is the National Director of Veterans for Kerry and has been working full time as a volunteer in John Kerry's presidential campaign for over a year. An attorney, Hurley is a Vietnam veteran who served with the U.S. Army in the Mekong Delta in 1967-1968. He was a Platoon Leader in Company B, 69th Engineer Battalion. He is 61 and lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts with his wife, Anne Goggin, and their three children, Caitlin, Conor, and Julia. His passions are family, Cape Cod, and the Boston Red Sox.

The best thing you can do is to never watch CNN or MSNBC again (only makes your blood pressure go up!)

Not only that, Matthews constantly talked over O'neill every time O'Neill tried to answer an accusation.

This has become the MO of virtually every talking-head show on cable. It's why I've stopped watching most of them. Carville did the same thing to O'Neill on CNN last night. O'Reilly does the same thing to everyone on his show. Everyone does it to everyone on Hannity and Colmes.

This should be the height of viewership for shows like "Spitball." I wonder how Hissy-fit Matthews' rating are doing. I'd love to see about two-thirds of the cable talking-head shows bite the dust after the election.

I agree with everything you have said. Matthews was disgustingly biased.

Darn. I missed it. My wife is exercising now, and the exercise machine generates powerful interference with the radio, so we turn it off for "the duration." I hope to see it (Carville again making an a$$ of himself) sometime soon.

O'Neill got some good shots in .... good shots. Now Crossfire ... that was the setup. Serpenthead didn't allow O'Neill to say anything. Lanny Ahole Davis got more speaking time. What a farce.

I know he is a dem. I know he is biased. I know he is partisan.

But this time he was over the top--even for him. It went beyond the pale. I have watched many of his rants, this was full of the anger and venom we have seen from the left towards President Bush.

Either he & Hurley (or someone else from the Kerry Camp) planned this full frontal assault on O'Neill or Chris has a serious anger management problem.

Forget the bias angle, we all know that is there.
I suspect collusion.

You saw it on TV.

What I thought was bizarre was Matthews claiming that O'Neill spoke for 20 minutes. It's an open joke that Matthews will not let anyone speak ... even people he agrees with. He asks the question, you get out a sentence and he interupts with another question. O'Neill should have pointed that out to him.

Also Matthews claimed it was an old trick conservatives use to say that they didn't have a chance to speak.

Matthews is a moron. He has tailored his show to liberals in the last couple of years.

I read the transcript, but I'll never watch again.

Both Matthews and Carville have been over the top on this issue. I'm not surprised, they're scared.

You are right...I expected Chris to be more fair..why
did he bring up Bush? He was bashing Bush instead of
allowing O'Neil to get his points out..then Chris used the Navy way of doing things..to justify any point that was
made by O'Neil relating to the P-Hearts and the fact
that he put three together real fast to get his a$$ out of Vietnam..and then the real damage he did to the fighting
men- still there when he was trashing the war...Matthews
stayed clear of that..hell- when you compare the 50,000
names on the wall..how many were killed after Kerry was on his self serving crusade against the war...and Bush is
fighting for our freedom from terrorists...with thousands less in casualties....Chris is going down the tubes.. Jake

Went into Peace Corps to avoid draft.

Chris Matthews has a large presence on the TV stage. His character and his judgement of other Demorat characters is in serious question, IMO.

Doesn't his draft evasion veering into the Peace Corps need to be brought to the top of the heap to show the fence-sitters just who is hammering the Swift Boat Vets?
Everyone is a liar who ever supported or served in the Military? I am sick of this perversion which seems to continue unchallenged by any Republican.
Partisan is one thing. Did ONLY Republicans serve in the military in the last 60 years in the USA??? I seriously doubt it. Shouldn't Democrats who loyally served iun the many branches of the Military be offended by the nastiness of Matthews and his ilk? I expect such foaming at the mouth from James Carville. He has shown his serpent colors for years.

Paraphrasing here:

Near the close of the show, Chris "The Screamer" was filibustering the Dem talking points in O'Neill's face, obviously walking/working the clock so as to prevent any rebuttal from O'Neil, while planning to give the "Last Word" to the Kerry Kamp Dude.

When O'Neill called Matthews on his ploy, saying, "you intentionally won't give me the time to respond with the truth you don't want heard", Chris angrily quipped, "that's a tactic and complaint always used by conservatives when on my show..." and continued to filibuster until "passing the baton" to the Kerry dude.

Hell yes it was a setup! And Matthews "self-outed" himself (again) as a biased part of the LIBERAL agenda media machine.
