Speaking of movie recreations, did John Kerry use real ammunition for these recreations?

Aside from the expense to the taxpayers of ammunition, it is the lifeblood of war. The life of every soldier and sailor in that area was endangered by this pointless expendure of ammunition. Every round of ammunition brought into a war zone can only arrive there at the risk of life and in the event of attack, there is never enough to go around. How could any one justify such a feckless exercise?

On the scale of Kerryism, this one is small potatoes, but has this occurred to anyone else? If George Bush had ever done any thing so idiotic it would have lead the news for three days.

absolutely - however, I think the undercurrent of doubt about the valor of Kerry's conduct in Vietnam has already begun. Ironically, it will be helped along by the all of the denigration of the military & soldiers that has been pumped into the popular culture starting with none other than Kerry, Fonda and their hippie bretheren. This served to dispel a lot of the "myths" of the heroic man in battle - Kerry will now reap what he has sown...I love it.

Its one of the first things that occurred to me. Firing of ammunition in a war zone, at the very least, could risk drawing the attention of the enemy. What if a sniper had picked off one of our soldiers while Kerry was engaging in this careless act of self-agrandisement? This man is too reckless to be the leader of the dog pound, much less Commander-in-Chief of the USA. IMHO
