Golan Cipel, an Israeli national hired by McGreevey in the first days of his administration as homeland security adviser and then as special counsel, issued a statement saying the governor repeatedly approached him for sex.
"While employed by one of the most powerful politicians in the country, New Jersey Governor McGreevey, I was the victim of repeated sexual advances by him," Cipel's statement said. "Such conduct and McGreevey's behavior caused me such emotional distress and turmoil."
Cipel painted McGreevey as an oppressive manipulator and himself as a victim who was subjected to retaliation by the governor and members of his administration after he "finally dared to reject" the sexual advances.
Administration officials immediately and emphatically denied the allegations, painting Cipel as a self-centered liar who tried to profit from an affair.

Yesterday a McGreevey administration source said Cipel also had sought the governor's influence in getting a New Jersey license for a New York-based Jewish college.

Among the board members of Touro College, a Jewish institution based in New York, is Charles Kushner, a close friend and campaign contributor of McGreevey who in recent weeks was indicted on charges that he interfered with an unrelated federal investigation. Kushner is accused of hiring a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, who was cooperating with investigators, and a videotape of the sex was sent to the man's wife, Kushner's sister.
Cipel once worked for Kushner in a job arranged by McGreevey before he became governor. But it was unclear whether Cipel would benefit from an approval for Touro College.
A woman answering the phone at the home of Touro President Bernard Lander last night hung up on a reporter.

(Sob) Oh, the poor, poor baby (gag).
I think the real issue here is corruption within the democratic party of NJ. On a wider scale there is an indication of national security failures on the part of democrats nationwide. Cipel was appointed to head homeland defense in the state and couldn't even be briefed on classified info. and then theres the Berger issue floating around as part of the pattern.
Pardon me while I take a bath.
New Jersey Whore-Gov. James McGreevey and his Boy Toy,
so beloved to him and New Jersey that all of America AND Homeland Security were scammed.
Which of the two will sue for repeditive stress injuries?
Does anyone else find it hilarious that a guy that willingly allows others to violate his anal cavity is whining about "sexual advances"?
I wonder if Cipel will have an accident soon?
The FBI is now involved and rumors are flying that McGayvey was using illegal means to get hush money for Cipel.
If the rumors are true and the Guv is under criminal investigation for possibly ripping off taxpayers to pay off his gay lover, that could mean the end.
(This is a long read but worth it.)
Elsewhere it has been reported that McSleazy's calculated plan to make himself into a gay victim has backfired bigtime, and virtually every paper in the state is calling for him to vacate the office now.
Hey, we warned gays not to embrace him... He had some serious flaws... But no, they went and made him into a role model...
And now he ain't looking so good.
Cipel is a hero for putting up with McGreevy for two years @ $100,000 per year. Dude's breaking my heart!!
This is a new one for me.
Cipel (sp?) is every bit as bad as McGreevey. Why didn't he just quit if he was being harassed? He wasn't qualified for the job to begin with.
So I guess we have to assume Gov McSlimey never reached the "golan heights" (snicker).

So true. Also just read in the Courier Post that the KERRY campaign was instrumental in the decision to postpone the resignation until Nov 15. According to this morning's article, the Kerry campaign did not want funds for the presidential race diverted to a special election.
Sooooo...NJ voters are going to have a "selected" governor for the next year, rather than being allowed to elect one? Somebody needs to hammer the Kerry campaign about this.
Waiting to hear a word from the four NJ wicked widows....but I won't hold my breath.
"Oh, Governor. What time does the inaugural ball start."
I thought that was the understanding when you sold your booty for a $100,000 a year job as liason for homeland security for which you had no credentials.
New Jersey quid pro quo: one thingee in and return for another.
