I recieved an e-mail invitation to take part in a Zogby poll. These are some of the more interesting questions. I left out the usual "Are you registered?/Who will you vote for?" types of questions. I was able to answer most with the answers provided. I refused a few where I thought the answers were too limiting. I left off Don't care/Don't know type answers for brevity.
How common are these polls and did my participation make a difference?

I got the invitation but have not filled out the Zogby poll yet. I usually get something every 2 weeks but during the DNC I got 2 in one week. This is a self selecting group that leans Democratic.

I took that poll this morning. As I see it, it won't hurt to have as many Republicans as possible participating in these polls.
That said, those were the weirdest questions I've ever seen in a Zogby poll.

I took this stupid poll yesterday and then e-mailed MrZ that the UN is NOT an "American institution". Reckon I'll be dropped from their list?

This is my first invitation to an on line poll. I don't know how they got my email address. I'm very protective of the one that they used.

That's about the only thing they didn't ask.

I have been participating in the Zogby poll for about 3 months now. After this last one I e-mailed Mark @ Zogby and told him if they ever sent another one like that totally filled with meaningless questions to politics that I would no longer participate

I used to participate in Zogby's polls, but then I started having problems with their pages loading. After attempting to complete the poll with three different browsers, I figured the problem was on their end. I wrote and complained several times and never got a reply. I then asked them to remove me from their poll address book. Obviously these people don't read their mail because they continued to send me polling emails. I finally got fed up and wrote Zogby himself complaining about it. That must have put a boot under somebody's ass, because I soon received an email from their webmaster who advised me that they had recently changed servers and were aware of the slowness of the pages loading and were working on it.
From the sounds of some of the bizarre questions you mentioned, it wouldn't surprise me if certain left leaning groups and/or businesses were paying Zogby to ask these specific questions of the public.

Zogby has been sending me the online poll for at least a year. I don't know how he got my email address either. Some of the questions were strange.... Pepsi or Coke...... where do you buy your jewelry etc. etc. ? I think just didn't answer the stupid ones.

Agreed. I'm a Diet Pepsi drinker, so I wasn't sure how to answer that one. I lot of those questions about jewelry and fragrances I refused because I don't buy that crap.

I have to admit that when I was taking this poll this morning I found myself wondering if the poll had been hacked. VERY strange questions indeed. After several off-topic questions, my patience wore thin and I refused to answer any non-political questions. And, yes, I will seriously reconsider my future participation in any more Zogby polls....
Frankly, I expect to see a Zogby report issued shortly that says something stupid like "Pepsi drinkers prefer Bush, while Coke drinkers want Kerry." (I joked that it would seem appropriate that Coke, which flip flops on its formula almost as much as Kerry flip flops on his wartime heroics, would be the choice of Kerry supporters. Please don't flame me - I was just joking!) ;-)

I don't drink any carbonated drinks at all - I just don't like them. And while I do wear perfume, it's not from the choices they gave.
DVD or VHS? But no way to answer BOTH.

Obviously you didn't read the start of the poll it said it was going into non traditional questions, so why were you surprised.
As an independent I feel the need to take these polls, just didn't realize there were so many of us on free republic taking the poll.

Agreed but the flavour of my favourite ice cream? Do I shop at JC Penneys or Wal-Mart?! It sounded as if they are trying to stereo-type conservatives. It was definately one of their sillier polls.

I, too, took the poll....feel we need to get our two cents worth. Was it ever pointed! On some of the more ridiculous I answered "refused". I felt it was kinda like pleading the fifth.

Obviously you didn't read the start of the poll it said it was going into non traditional questions I did - apparently my definition of "non traditional" is just very different than Zogby's... I will freely admit that I consider Zogby's polls to be more "politically oriented" than "consumer oriented" (i.e., like Harris polls).
Good to see another independent taking these polls!
