I just called my local Barnes and Noble to ask AGAIN when they will have it. The guy was very snippy and said that it was supposed to be September 1st, but it MAY come in earlier. I said, I can't believe you don't know when it's going to come in. I was told alot of people have been asking for it. He got all pissy and repeated, verbatim, what he said the first time and added, IT'S A SMALL PUBLISHER. I said, "it's not a small publisher, you have many books in your store from this publisher. He let out a big sigh. I told him I have his name and I am coming tomorrow to speak to the manager.

He might actually be right. I hear the book is in its 4th printing BECAUSE OF ACTUAL ORDERS. The local shops may be having trouble getting it.

I had a similar experience at my Barnes and Noble. They told me it was Sept 2st and that a lot of people had been asking for the book. I went in person and the obviously lefty staff was very uncomfortable.

I ordered our copy on Barnes and Noble on line. It arrived yesterday (ordered 7/29). I d/n have to deal with any prissy, petulant left leaning types. I am too old and too disgusted with this nonsense to put up with book store types with their knickers in a knot! My apologies to any bookstore clerks, owners, etc.--I am in a bad mood. My husband got to read "Unfit for Command" first--he won the toss!

I started shouting in the Wichita Barnes and Noble the other day.

I normally keep my cool in public, but this lady set me off.

I asked her about when she would have it in. She then read a statement she had that it was published by a publisher known for publishing "books with a definite right-wing bent" and that it would not be published until Aug 15.

Let me tell you.......that just set me off. Especially because right next to it on the desk were these anti-Bush bumper stickers in a booklet.

I just ripped into her.....people started staring at my yelling about how they stuck all the liberal books at front and then dare to attack Regenery and claiming to be non-partisan while having anti-Bush bumper stickers on the customer service desk for sale.

I am sorry.....I exploded very quickly.

Amazon still says the publishing date is not until Aug 15, but then how the heck is it already out? It was supposedly out last week and members of the general public are getting copies.

The B&N in my area tends to hire really weird people with nose rings and pierced tongues . . . undoubtedly the elite of the leftist literati . . . and thus, I suspect the manager who hired them is probably of the same mindlessness. Yours probably is too. Write to HIS boss! Higher B&N management probably wears Brooks Brothers suits and knows how to add and subtract as good businessmen. They are in the business of selling books. Write to THEM!

When I called Barnes & Noble last week about getting this book, after I had reserved a copy, in a casual conversation with the chatty girl, after checking their web site and telling me that the problem was with their distritutor, she made the remark that there were 300 in the warehouse.

I asked her if she meant the warehouse for Raleigh and she said no; I said North Carolina and she said no. I said for what, and she said for the whole country.

Barnes & Noble seems to have an ideological problem with any right-leaning books.

A few years ago, I purchased David Schipper's book on the impeachment of Pres Clinton (I forget the name) and the clerk gave me a mildy dirty look when I handed it to her. I looked at her and said "What's the problem?". She said nothing and rang up my purchase without saying anything. I didn't even get a thank you.

If you can, you should go to Borders. They seem to be much better about keeping some of our preferred titles in stock. They also seem to be not as snooty as the clerks at Barnes & Noble.

I was at B&N last night and asked about the book. The mgr very nicely explained how the publisher said Sept 1 and the media said sooner. There were a number of books on a table marked current events or something like that and 8 out of 10 were Bush-Bashing - many I had never heard of. Lotta people trying to make a buck off the hate.
