Just wondering. Why include your occupation and employer when contributing by check?

You have to do the same thing if you contribute by credit card on their website. I suspect it has something to with the tax and political contribution laws, although I wonder about the occupation part myself. Employer I can sort of understand, they want to be sure some corporation or partnership isn't "laundering" contributions through it's employees. By why it matters if you sweep the floor, design the products or keep the books, I haven't a clue.

I attempted to leave it blank when I made my online contribution and I was unable to proceed until it was complete. I am a housewife.

Mrs.FT usually writes the checks and pays the bills at my place so I wasn't sure about this.

We don't put my occupation on anything we don't have to because it can target us for animal rights nutcases.

I've had some medical personnel and others that saw my occupation on paperwork I had to fill out take an offensive attitude at times.

Guess Mrs. FT needs to send the check in her name,we don't need to be a bigger target than we already are. :)
