Statement by United States Congressman Richard Burr (R-NC)
George W. Bush ^ | August 17, 2004

Posted on 08/17/2004 1:36:27 PM PDT by RWR8189

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, United States Congressman Richard Burr (R-NC) issued the following statement:

"One thing you will not hear John Kerry talking about when he visits North Carolina on Friday will be the 35,400 jobs created in the month of June thanks to the President’s pro-growth agenda. John Kerry travels the country laying out proposals he claims will be paid for by rolling back the Bush Tax Cuts; the numbers just do not add up. We still do not know how John Kerry will pay for all of this new spending. We know, however, that John Kerry has spent his entire career raising your taxes and will have to continue to tax your hard-earned money to account for the spending he has already promised. North Carolinians know that higher taxes and more government regulation is exactly the wrong thing for our economy”

Meanwhile, NC Gov. Easley has started his TV ads -- and actually blames Bush tax policy for harming our state's economy so drastically. Unbelieveable.

The North Carolina Auditor posted three spreadsheets last October with line item amounts for the 6-8,000 non-profits which are funded by various Departments of Government.

It was a fascinating read. Among other things the amount of money dispersed remained relatively consistent for the years ending 2000,2001,2002 (750,000,000-3/4 BILLION Dollars) even as the number of non-profits changed from 8,000 to 6,000.

The organizations themselves were also interesting-AAA, (American Automobile Association) and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) both got thousands of dollars in grant money.

The categories were also interesting-grants to subgrantees- among others.

The orginal link I had is dead, so I don't know if the files were moved to another portion of the site or removed.

I do have copies of the XLS files themselves if someone would tell me how to post them. They must be read "landscape" and are 8,000 rows long.

I am surprised Candidate Burr has not jumped on that issue, since North Carolina had a budget crisis in those years.

Best regards,

Burr and his campaign better wake up or he WILL LOSE

So when they STICK TO THEIR PLAN AND WIN you'll say "see, they finally woke up and started running ads and got Burr's positives up and Bowles' negatives up, I was right, they woke up and won" and if he loses you'll say "see, I told you if he didn't wake up he'll lose".

Since you don't know their plan, and you've never offered a course of action other than "wake up", all you have is empty rhetoric to make yourself feel important, or (ha!) knowledgeable.

What a maroon ....
