The May 8, 2000 article from U.S. News & World report reproduced below begins by stating that John Kerry conducted clandestine forays into Cambodia during the Vietnam War to deliver weapons to anticommunist forces. Because that statement isn't a direct quote of Kerry, I contacted the reporter, Kevin Whitelaw, this afternoon. Whitelaw still works at U.S. News & World report where he covers foreign affairs and intelligence matters.
Hugh: "Did John Kerry tell you that he ran guns into Cambodia?"
Kevin Whitelaw: "That's exactly what he told me."
Mr. Whitelaw declined my invitation to appear on my radio program, explaining that he doesn't report on or comment on the presidential campaign.
Can we now agree that John Kerry has engaged in wild claims about his service? Since he told that tale to Mr. Whitelaw, who else has he told it to?

Didn't you hear he had conversations with Brando about the contra stuff and took some of his advice. I heard that on the radio this morning on Steve Gill's show out of Nashville. Didn't catch the source of the info. Just the thing about Brando. Steve was talking about hanoi john giving advice to the love lorn and this was one of the tidbits when Monroe was mentioned.
Actually Kerry was never in Cambodia, however, he did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. He & Tereza had seperate accomodations.
I suggested this a couple of days ago: The Bush campaign should slam sKerry hard with the Christmas in Cambodia lie in an AD. And at the end of the Ad say that the Bush Campaign has said we will not question Kerry's Viet Nam service, but we sure have some questions about his service in Cambodia.
Saw O'Neill on Brit Hume's Fox newsshow tonight. He was terrific. Afterward, when the All Stars discussed Kerry's and the RATs' behavior, Mort condemned the RATs for smearing Bush unbelievably, while Juan Williams at first denied this, then made a further fool of himself. He can't admit the truth even when it bites him in the behind.
I've expected the Dems would pull the plug on their candidate since the last election when they did two last minute substitutions in congressional races.
They want to run Hillary but Hillary cannot survive a protracted campaign. The only thing they can do is let her pitch hit at the last minute.
Shoe on the other foot, the dems would have been pushing this stuff three months ago.
