McGreevey hides big sin, corruption - playing the sex card (New Jersey - are you alive?)

McGreevey hides big sin, corruption
Playing the sex card
James P. Pinkerton
Aug 17, 2004

It was inevitable. By playing the sex card - even better, the gay-sex card - New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey bought himself some grace from the media and a bump-up in public opinion. Gubernatorial corruption places second to sexual liberation.

McGreevey, of course, stands accused of hiring an unqualified foreign national, Golan Cipel, to work in his government and then, depending on which man - McGreevey or Cipel - is to be believed, carrying on a homosexual relationship that was either consensual or non-consensual.

McGreevey announced his resignation on Thursday. But, in doing so, he sought to spin the story away from his own possible criminality and toward his own newly revealed sexuality. The magic words were, "I am a gay American." That phrasing was reportedly worked out in conjunction with the Human Rights Campaign, a Washington-based gay rights group, with help from pollsters. And in private words - intended, to be sure, for public consumption - McGreevey reinforced his newfound stance as a gay victim.

And so while the essentials of the case - abuse of power, abuse of taxpayer money - were hard to escape, much of the media nevertheless embroidered the coverage with sympathetic stitching. Newsweek called it "a human tragedy"; The New York Times, eyeing the same psychosexual pattern, called it "a tragic American narrative." One might ask: Is there any chance that the same media outfits would find anything "tragic" in the decline and fall of Enron's Ken Lay?

The Philadelphia Inquirer, meanwhile, ran a piece headlined, "Experts say N.J. would not elect a gay."

He is not a gay-fricken-American. He is an American that is bi-sexual. A corrupt American politican who his bi-sexual who has irreparably hurt 4 females that he has (or had) a moral obligation to. He is a selfish, narcissistic, shallow, greedy marxist American bisexual who jeopardized the security of the people who elected him so he could play footsie with a NON American at tax payer expense.

I think it's beyond sad that people have missed the the most important angle: corruption and fraud.

Plenty of seamy, as well as steamy, allegations are sure to come, but here's a prediction: McGreevey will be hosting a TV talk show, or writing a best-selling book, long before he ever finds himself facing a judge and jury. And that will be the real scandal.

I doubt it. I think McGreevey's pretty dirty OUTSIDE of the sex scandal if the New York Times is calling for his immediate resignation. And I think the Kushner plea bargain will lead the way.

One of the most surreal things about living here is still seeing commercials for New Jersey with the CORRUPT American's ugly mug. He can't leave too soon.

McGreevey isn't queer, he's just corrupt and likes to dominate.

. . .Agree; and also missed is the Lib/marxist/sociopathic mantra. . .'I did it because I could.'

This is one ugly story; and will be getting worse; day by day; the Demrats are no doubt doing their own praying. . .that this will story will hit the wall; before half the vermin in the state are dragged into daylight.

Kudos to those Federal prosecutors who have been working on this. (Bet they get really bad mail. . .)
