"Agents then used a large, humane trap to capture it for relocation, baiting the trap with the usual: doughnuts, honey and, in this case, two open cans of Rainier. That did the trick."
Just goes to show you how they treat Republicans in Washington state these days. I am going to have to start watching out for myself here in California when I go out.

Haha...yes. The ultimate in kiddie advertising. There's a bar that I go to in Madison that has one of the bears. It's a plastic bear, about 3 feet high, riding a bicycle. The bicycle is on an electric carousel, and the bear bikes around and around...

"This is too funny! I remember the Rainier Beer commercials, as I lived in Wash. State at the time!" They were great commercials. I spent six years as public relations director for Rainier Brewery and you bet, we could have made hay with this story. I've also written two books about Mount Rainier, and have some classic (true) bear stories. At Mount Rainier they relocate troublesome bears about 25 miles away from tourist areas, and invariably the bears make it back to camp by the next morning.

The Hamms beer commercials from years ago were classics too.. I grew up watching the Twinkies and Vikings games and the Hamms bear in all kinds of garb and gimmicks.

Yeh, I loved that Hamms bear too. Unfortunately we've lost both our classic Northwest beers, both Rainier and Olympia. Both breweries closed years ago. The best beer in the NW now is made by our own Billthedrill.

Hamms and Grain Belt and Schlitz.. ahh the memories
Minnesota was full of breweries not so many years ago. It's the water, yaknow. ;-)

Perhaps my parents were on to something when the gave me my middle name, Dov, which means "bear" in Hebrew and Yiddish. Add a meat item, and I'd raid that trap.
