They certainly have more trops there than the Philippines did.

The Polish Special Forces are nothing to scoff at either.

No, no!
If I understood you properly You meant, that if Nazi camps were built and operated by Nazi Germans, but on Polish soil, so they can be considered as Polish ones.
In my opinion that would mean, that also all the horrible things that happened within those camp can be considered like that.
And some less historically educated people - if they read about "Polish death camps" - may automaticaly think - "Ooh, those evil Poles, that murdered the Jews!" (maybe with some slight German help - sarcasm).
So - the WW2 death camps were as much "Polish" as September 11 was "American" (because happened on American soil).

AWWWW, if it is Poland, it must be Polish.

From what I understand, at the liberation of Auschwitz, the American troops were so disgusted that the locals didn't do anything about the attrocities, they made the locals clean up the mess.

Correct. It's also depicted in the great, superb miniseries band of brothers.

You all need to study a little history. The Americans never reached Poland, so the facts you all made up can't be true.

read my other post. I meant that the story of villagers being forced to clean up concentration camps were true in general, I didn't mean that it happened in poland in particular. I was referring to the depiction in BOB and apparently I wasn't specific enough.

"All the while the naysayers say Poland doesn't count as part of a coalition. After all, they only sent a few troops compared to the number of troops we have in Iraq. "

So how many troops should Poland send ? 50.000 ?

Didn't make up any facts, I asked a question and I was answered in the posts that followed. Any correction were made there in. Thank you for your input though.

AWWWW, if it is Poland, it must be Polish.

Then you can call American embassy in Poland as "polish embassy"...

I asked a question

Let me look again at what you posted:

No, no question there. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. You must be mistaken about what you posted.

You've got it confused with Buchenwald, which was just outside of Munich.

Dachau was the camp outside of Munich. Buchenwald is in Weimar.

Here's a map, the locations can be confusing:

The American Embassy is a Polish building with Americans in it.

The Polish built it.

Referring to Auschwitz, who operates the tours? Are they nazis's? I don't think so, I am sure it is a Polish tour guide. I am also pretty sure the Polish Government has a claim for it to be a monument.

I don't know where you guys have learned history but from what you wrote I think you didn't learn at all. Auschwitz was not in Poland but in Occupied territories that beloned to Poland before it was invaded by Nazi Germany. It was liberated by the Soviets. The camp you are referring to was in Landsberg- Germany. Start learning history from the books not from TV!!!

Nazi Germans placed their concentration and extermination camps in occipied Poland because Poland was home to the biggest Jewish population in Europe (about 3.3 million in 1939).

If you come into my back yard and build a slave/death camp, then it's YOUR death camp but still MY back yard.

This analogy fits fairly well, I think.

The American Embassy is a Polish building with Americans in it. The Polish built it.

First, I doubt that you know who built American embassy in Poland, maybe American government choose location and their firm built the building. Other thing is that Germans built the camps not Poles. As for Auschwitz, you can go there for free, it is some kind of monument but this thing don’t have any meaning to call camp the “polish camp”. Many sides with Jews in the top claim for that.
Whatever you say it is only one right form, I mean “German nazi camp in Poland”, polish government will fight with all others.
I agree with analogy above.

Auschwitz was liberated by the Red Army. The Soviet general was so horrified at site that he has the Nazis in charge executed on the spot.

The Americans liberated Dachau (near Munich), in addition to other concentration camps in Germany. The Americans were so repulsed by what they saw at Dachau German SS guards were lined up and executed by a firing squad. Over 40 Germans were killed. General Patton was told to investigate the incident shortly after the war ended and deep six'd the inquiry ... no American soldiers were brought up on charges.

The camp you are referring to was in Landsberg- Germany

Here's a map of the Dachau subcamps, of which landsberg was a part.

From Dachau, moving down towards the lower left corner is Kaufering, and next in the same direction, Landsberg.

Thanks for the info.

You're probably right, I tend to get the two mixed up, but the bottom line is that it was in Germany.

It's hard for me to keep the places straight, so I try to use the maps.

I was at Dachau a few times, which is how I know it is close to Munich.
