The allegations against Kerry have alot more substance than the rumor campaign the McCain faced.

What rumors were spread about McCain? I recall McCain attacking a lot of Christian Conservatives and really pissing off the base.

They questioned his sanity and his self control after the years of confinement by the Commies.

McCain was not pleased, but could not address what is now his history.

I think the rumor about McCain is that he gave up valuable secret info to the enemy when he was in captivity. It might have come from his own mouth or in a book he wrote. People thought he looked too healthy when he got off that plane.
