Gotta' get: Gay governor is suddenly sought-after Wednesday August 18, 2004 TRENTON, N.J. (AP) Suddenly, Gov. James E. McGreevey is the big ``get'' everyone wants.
McGreevey announced Aug. 12 that he would resign Nov. 15, telling a nationally televised news conference he was gay and had an extramarital affair with a man. He has yet to grant an interview since then, and he has no immediate plans to grant one, spokesman Micah Rasmussen said Wednesday.
McGreevey's press office fields about 200 calls per day, he said, many of them interview requests from beat reporters, network TV stars and others.
``The answer to all of them is the same. He's not thinking about that right now. He's focused on the next 90 days and he has a lot to accomplish between now and then,'' Rasmussen said.
In the news business, must-have interview subjects like McGreevey are commonly referred to as ``gets.''
``This is a major get,'' said Marc Berman, senior television writer for Mediaweek, a media industry trade magazine.
