I'm dubious. Why would the Secret Service rip up her ticket? They just told her she couldn't wear that button. Why didn't she just turn it over to the Secret Service if it was so important for her to see the President?

The Secret Service mans security checkpoints, not ticket booths. It was a staffer who refused entry to the woman because she refused to remove her Kerry sticker. She has a right to her opinions, and the rally has the right to freedom of association.

A sob story over nothing. If she wanted in, all she had to do was not display the sticker. But of course, that's 'wrong' to her. Tough luck, lady. It was a political rally.

re-read the story...

[ "We were told that anyone with stickers or shirts would not be let in if they would not take them off," ]

...so the schoolteacher had the CHOICE to remove the sticker
and attend, OR get herself ejected. She CHOSE the later.
