We have fire ants. Alabama fire ants must not like the taste of Armadillo.
If they are the native fire ants, they don't bother the armadillos, quail, rabbits, etc. that have ground or burrow nests. The imported fire ants we have here in central Tx have been known to kill baby deer and calves.
