This CANNOT be the case. If Kerry's campaign is really this benighted in their approach to this book, I am completely flabbergasted. This has to be the most inept response to a book I've ever seen.

Their best bets would have been to either ignore and dismiss it completely, or to agree to release all the records and then shut up about it.

I agree. Ignoring was their best tactic, and they blew it big time. Not only do they have no plan and no message, but now they are forced to defend an indefensible position.
